Whos ditching 8800 GT for new rev GTS?

Thanks for the effort man but I'm totally not interested in that, what I'm interested in is a nice new SLI mobo that will run a pair of 8800 cards.

Hurry up and finish your designs so the manufacturers can get the board built and on the shelves. . . please! :D

[edit] although looking at peaheads 8800GT SLI results (vs a single 8800GT) I'm not sure if SLI is the way to go? Need more user results really to be sure.

Looking forward to the new 8800GTS though, not sure to jump on it or wait for the results to come in. . .

I'd say they are pretty good results at high.

12 fps or 40% increase in SLI is a good result and 41 fps is pretty good at that res and makes the game playable.

Oh don't get me wrong, they are decent results but I was expecting more, not sure why the minimum frame-rate is unchanged when using SLI? (20fps min is too low for me personally).

Then there is the matter of cost, 2x 8800GT vs a single new 8800GTS.

I don't see that a single 8800GTs can compete with a pair of GT's

You can see that SLI makes more of a difference at higher res's then. Compared to my 1280x1024 benchmarking.
I got the same High/SLI Avr FPS at my lower res, really need a new monitor. :(

my 2 GT's will last me a while me thinks. sli performance with crysis can only get better, and if i can run that game decent fps, then i wont need an upgrade for along time

Indeed! however most of us don't upgrade because we 'need' to eh :D

What monitor are you using btw? a real nice screen attached to a pair of 8800GT's = Bliss.

I'm wondering what the release date is of the new 8800GTS, I got some builds to complete before xmas so I got my fingers crossed for early december (ish).

Most people are assuming that the G92 GTS will be faster than the GT, but surely that would be even more confusing, as you would have a GTS that's slower than a GT, and another GTS that's faster than a GT?

I can understand NV wanting to move all production to 65nm, but surely a replacement card (as opposed to a refresh, like the GT) should have roughly the same performance as the card it's replacing?
I'm sure putting out a quick card that will sell well is much more of a motivation than having a logical easy-to-follow product line-up. The line-up already doesn't make sense with the GT beating the GTS but cheaper. Nvidia aren't losing any sleep over it though. I would put money on the new GTS being faster than the old GTS, GT and probably the GTX too.

It has to be faster than a GTX or there would be no point in it :p

I was thinking whilst I was in the shower, I dont think I will sell my GT now, I might wait untill me money adds up in the bank and go all out and buy a new gen card next year (9800GTX?) and possibly keep my 8800GT for a nice backup card or maybe sell it for a few quid, I know that now my system appears to be performing correctly I just want to enjoy playing some games, especially UT3 :D.

Wise move. :)

I'm going to have to bookmark the post I made so I remember it, sort of like a rule for me too :p

I was thinking of going 8800GT SLi and keeping my P5N-E SLi mobo but thought nah coz all I wanted that for really was too look through the window on my case and see 2 cards and think.. cool!, but I decided nah I'll sell the mobo for some extra cash, I'm sure if I can play crysis on high with a cfg mod then 1 card is going to last me aaages.

This is a good idea.

People who don't own a 8800 GT tend to think its not a "fast" card.:p

Play some games!

I really don't think the GTS will be that much faster and I have no complaints with the performnce from my GT.

Dare I say I may miss this one out and wait for the 9 series?

The thing with this situation now is what game will anything more than an 8800gt be required to run maxed out apart from crysis until the 9800 ? i have played crysis through and am done with it although i do like the multiplayer side.
I do however predict that by january the vanilla gt will be £130the oc models £140-£160.

I do envy people that payed £150 for theirs payed £197 delivered from here for a BFG OC card that won't hit over 1728 shader clock.Just taking this one on the chin in future i am waiting for the cheapest price possible before i hit buy and just buying so called cheapo brands which are better than the so called good brands.

I mean i payed £37 more for a worse performing card hard to get a positive from that.

You competitor hinters are awful! :D

I'll be buying the new GTS as soon as it's out. Hopefully OcUk will be taking preorders as well to ensure those who really want one, get one...
