Basicaly i went for a job a few weeks ago, i applied for the job via email, i sent it at 11.00 by 11.22 they were on the phone saking me to go for an interview, i went that thurdsay, on the sunday morning they rang me from home and asked me to come in and meet the other two directors the following wednesday and i did, i have since seen one or two of there clients that i know allready and on both occasions theve said " oh i hear your goig to work for ....."

after both interviews i sent a mail basicaly saying thankyou for taking the time for seeing me, i am very interested, and i am egerly awaiting you responce etc..

on wednesday ( the second interview ) they said they would be intouch within a few days...... the question is should i call them or not?? i dont want to harras them but at the same time the waiting is doing my head in and i cant focus on work knowing im a phone call away from telling my french boss to stick it....

Give them a call mate, even if they haven't made their mind up yet, it will show that your still interested in the job.

giving them a ring wont do any harm to your chances at all. As has been said, it will show an eagerness and that you have an interest in the position

Sounds like they've offered it to someone else but are keeping you hanging on in case the other person doesnt return the contract. Then they can offer if to you.

Totally agree with the others. It will show that you are keen on landing the job. The couple of times i have done it have always paid off for me.

right update time...... this last 24 hours have been a total rollercoster of stress and elation..

I rang yesterday and the guy wasnt in, he rang me back last night at 7.00 pm to say that it was a close run thing, they were very impressed and i gave by far the strongest interview... however i was up against someone who had got twelve years experiance in the industry and allready knew the product and customers inside out. they had apparently email him on friday but he hadnt replyed untill yesterday, he is apparently in the middle of a divorce and would have to relocate to folkstone ( not a nice prospect in itsself ) and as such couldnt let them know either way , the MD then told me that he would chase for an answer from this guy but it looked likely that he would accept...

you can only imagine what i have gone through, i have been so stressed and dipressed as i absolutly had my heart set on this job , its the perfect role for me, and in my dream industry, to be honest its the sort of job id do for free if i were rich enough.

so guess my joy at reading this thisevening....

Dear James,
I have agreed with the other candidate that due to his personal cicumstances now would not be the right time to join this company. As a result I would like to offer you the position with immediate effect.
I believe you were looking for a salary of £34,000 pa which I can agree to and I am also offering a sales related bonus incentive which could provide substantial additions. We really need to sit down to agree terms as quickly as possible. I believe the sooner you start with us the better.
Please give me a call at any time,

Best regards

woo and indeed hoo!!
im now off to get spangled!

Seeing as though they messed you around first time, I'd sit on the email and do nothing for a few days. When they call and ask if you're gonna accept the job you should tell them that it was a close run thing but you had an offer from another company whilst you were waiting. Then say that the other company is going to chase you for a decision but it's likely that you'll accept their offer.

Then tomorrow you should email them saying that you decided not to go for the other job and you'll accept their offer with immediate effect.

*actually this is the sort of thing I'd like to do in your situation but really you should just accept the position ;)
