Travelodge really grind my gears.

I book a room so that I can travel to Manchester for Business at the spare of a moment (3pm I found this out), I then can't get the train ticket sorted once the train website updated to the next page. I was then just going to drive the next day, so I try to cancel my booking from 5 minutes ago and I am not allowed to.

I am onto some stupid robot woman telephone thing (which at first was very impressive - can have a conversation with her) which won't allow me to cancel as I booked after 12...

I rang the travelodge and got through to a "human" who won't let me cancel the room either. So I said "arggghhh I shall see you in 4/5 hours and I WONT be happy" - got to the travelodge at like 1.30am which was hardly worth going to sleep!

2nd time

Booked a travelodge in Isle of Wight for next week and got refund cover. I now need to book the room the day before instead and it wont let me "modify", I spoke with a "human" and they said I need to just cancel the original room and then book another. However, I cant get a refund on the original booking EVEN under my refund cover - as I am not dying or seriously ill.

Probably the worst company I have dealt with. Infact, it goes on my company hate list of:
-Bulldog
-Stagecoach Buses
-Travelodge

You get what you pay for in life, shame my company runs a low -cost business model sometimes (means bigger bonuses for us, but less nice things!)

P.s - Yes, I know I managed to fit my surname into a thread title :p

You know boon = good and bane = bad right?

Think yourself lucky that you can book things directly with the hotel companies. We have to go through some **** poor service company whose website is useless and rarely works and tends to be a lot more expensive than booking directly. We have to use them as we supposedly get a discount (uh if that's the case then how come I can get it £100 cheaper directly for the same room and the same limitations on refunds) ... and if we don't use them then we cannot claim on expenses ...:(

... fortunately the only time I've had to go away for work recently has been for training and where I tend to have to go is 5mins from my parents so I stay there ... :)

So Travelodge suck because you keep changing your mind after booking things?

That's basically what I'm understanding too.

Did you not read the T&C's? It helps you know.

I've used them and Premier Travel Inn many times and never had a problem.

I didn't change MY mind, the client changed the dates on the 2nd booking due to a change in circumstances. Therefore I had to follow suit. The booking is next thursday, so that is more than enough notice to give refund and rebook somebody else if it was any normal hotel. But wait, I can't do it...

In the first case, I only found out that I needed to cancel after a problem with trains as I stated.

I was not in the position to read through pages of T&C's (I know I should have), but I still think that even if I had read them, the hotel could be a bit human about it and help me out, rather than leave me with a bitter taste for the company. :)

You're aware that things often change at the last minute in the world of business travel? Are you saying that a company getting revenue from this market should be 100% inflexible?
