Pictures of Uni accom?

look for a facebook group for each accom, dont think theres any lists with all them etc.
That way you could see what kind of halls it is, and ask people who live there.

you might want to tell us which uni your looking at and maybe someone can either give you a link or something.

A lot of unis will have various sites with different standards of rooms. Sometimes some buildings are just newer and cleaner than others and some you pay extra for.

-ensuite

Some are clean, some are dirty, some are new, some are old, some are worn etc.
More and more halls are popping up in newcastle, theyre all pretty expensive, with ensuites etc. Kinda silly really, a lot of the ensuite halls were VERY antisocial as many choose to practically live in their own rooms. Though id much rather go to a new place than an old place, just because the place i lived was extremely skanky due to last minute application :)

Shouldnt be v hard finding images on google, or websites, facebook is still the best bet, it shouldnt be hard to find groups made for people who live in said halls, and that way you can see the pictures the occupants put up, not the ones of the 'showflats'(old halls have some nice flats, and most are minging :P) aswell as getting their thoughts on the general living conditions.

no, they occured in communal areas. People had to get up and walk out their room to the toilets, you bump into people, see people are in the communal area, etc.
When staying at friends in the ensuite accom, or popping round before nights out, or going to 'partys' it always seemed pretty dead, no atmosphere.
Although i guess my halls had 3 floors, each floor had one big coridoor with all the seperate flat's doors off it, and these doors were windowed, and generally left unlocked :D so everyone just walked into each others flats etc :P

My mates live in 8 bedroom shared flats, and the social atmosphere there is always brilliant.

They all have en-suites, all they have to share is the kitchen.

Totally see where he is coming from and agree.

When I was in Uni, my first year was spent in an old halls which had long corridors on each floor housing up to 22 people per floor with three kitchens and unisex toilets and showers. It was very social, everyone would pop down the other kitchens to chat etc...

On the other hand, the most expensive halls, which were modern and many ensuite, tended to have a lot of foreign students in and were very boring socially.

My final year in halls everyone was so self contained that I hardly new anyone in my block, I didn't even know there was a guy living the room across the corridor to me! It was horrible and such a contrast to my first year.

Agreed, initially i would like to say no offence to any foreign students who may read this. But they do tend to stick together and can be very social amongst them selves but not with other local residents.

Sounds exactly like being at York... were you?

I'm glad I slummed it in an older block, made many more friends than I would have done :)
