Went to Staithes on Saturday and South Gare on Sunday. Managed to get time to process the shots today, so here they are. Hope you like them.

Number 5, 6 and 8 all stand out for me :)

Some are a bit plain jane..but I think the long exposures of them helps out providing some interest!

I like 3, 6, 7 and 8. :)

No.2, although I like the sky, is a bit boring to me, the stick just isn't interesting enough in itself to be the foreground 'interest'.

i like them MK the last one i seem drawn to the glasses as they stand out a bit.

So, I've been looking at this excellent image in the competition:

It has a wonderful etherial light effect in the sky. Yet, you deny using HDR.

And now I look at this:

Again, you have captured a wonderful lighting effect, that has a coldness and a sharpness that seems almost unreal.

And I'm sitting here, wondering how you capture that effect.

I check the Exif and clock the three minute exposure and achnowledge the silky smooth sea.

And finaly, the filename catches my eye. Moonlight!

Inspired.

I remember that night. I was snuggled up inside, nursing a cold. Next time we get a full moon and a clear night, I've got to get out into the world with camera and tripod.

Thanks,

Andrew

nice collection there MK, did you not go down the road to Runswick bay?

OT, If you fancy coming to Whitby on Sunday MK, i can pick you up from Middlesbrough station if that's any help.

Yeah, I could have done with something a bit more interesting, but I was in a bit of a rush (The light was fading fast and I needed to get home) and that was the only noteworthy thing lying at the edge of the beach. If I had more time I would have tried to find a decent log or something.

Cheers. Yeah, looking at them again and they do stand out a bit too much. I think its due to the sharpening being a bit too agressive. Will have a look at toning it down a bit.

Cheers Andrew. Yeah im not a fan of HDR so I don't use it in any of my images. I sometimes use exposure blending, but on this shot ive simply used selective level adjustments and dodging/burning.

Yeah, the moonlight was good fun to play with. Again it was at the end of the day and I needed to get back to catch the bus home so I was in a bit of a rush. I love the light in this one, but im not entirely happy with the composition and subject. I really want to do more low light/nighttime shots though. Shame digital exposures kick up so much noise during long exposures though.

I didn't Wez. Went to Staithes on the Saturday and South Gare with a quick stop off at Redcar beach on Sunday. I'll see about Whitby, and get back to you on that one. What time you planning on heading there?

The fisherman stands out from the rest for me. The sea/landscape behind him really makes the shot.

Nice work though, as ever.

I really like the set MK, Number 7 stands out for me as a stunning mono shot. The contrast and tonal range is amazing. Was there much processing done to that one?

I've just been to Runswick this morning then along to south gare, i found an old fishing boat which i hadn't seen before right down near the lighthouse and the pics i took looked good on my camera, i'm just about to process them now - did a few panoramas too.

As for Sunday, i think we are meting in Whitby at 10ish (AM(obviously)) :D

Love number 6, I actually thought the branch in number 2 was a snake at first glance!

Again another great set of pics!

1 and 8 for me

i'm from whitby and have surfed staithes loads...must get up there and take some surfing pics

Quality selection - 3, 6 and 8 are the standouts for me

Love the calm tones in 6

The DOF in 8 brilliant captures the mood and atmosphere
