New Sapphire HD3850 256mb

My HIS came today aswell, I'll be testing it out tonight, sooo glad it came with the DVI-HDMI adaptor

I've got 2 akasa amber 120s aimed at the card idling at 39c now.

Took me a while to figure out the unknown pci device in device manger was the HD audio drivers that were missing.

Sounds like a nice card - If the 3850's are the same layout wise as the 2900 then one of the thermalright HR-03's would be brilliant although obviously it is a lot larger than the stock single slot cooler

Anyone getting BSODs since installing this card? I've had 3 today.

Page fault in non paged area......win32k.sys

Googling around suggests driver issues, albeit same fault with other cards.

no bsod's, but it did freeze on me running the high settings @ 1024 in benchmark mode

managed a run at 1024 with med, and scored 59/60/60/60 average with std clocks, and 60/66/66/66 with cards at 759/954

I did an ununstall of drivers, ran driver cleaner then re-installed. Been playing crysis demo, then it BSOD when I clicked on quit, same error.
It did it also during simcity societies. Probably a driver update will help when released.

yep, was freakin out at the burning/melting smell last night too, its gone now and all seems ok

Directing slow spinning 120mm fan make any difference to the load temps?

I've got an akasa amber pointing at mine, helped a lot with temps.

I haven't really bothered with cooling mine down, though I dont really game on the pc its my HTPC, I did however open it up yesterday (just after testing UT3) to mess about with the CPU cooler and my god the card was so hot it nearly burnt my fingers!

I really need a decent aftermarket cooler I think, any ideas which fit? I'm even considering going watercooling just after xmas.
