Ian Wright WTF!

I wish Motson would quit. Can't stand the guys commentating.

John Motson makes me absolutely furious every time I have to put up with his complete and utter drivel. He's a senile, biased, clueless git who shouldn't be let anywhere near a mic.

Ian Wright said his son shouldn't start, so I can't see anything wrong with having him dish out punditry at half time. Like it's already been said in this thread he's much more entertaining than watching England.

Just you wait till that women commentator from match of the day starts doing live broadcasts of England games. :(

Considering Ian said that he would Not have played Sean then i think his objectivity is Sound.
Ian Wright is fine by me.

I said the objectivity of the other pundits (Hansen & Co), not the objectivity of Wrighty.

Whether he said Becks should start in front of SWP isnt really the issue (although I admit I missed the comment).

My point is that Wrighty's presence affects the objectivity of the others, therefore should he be there? Are they less likely to criticise SWP in the presence of his dad?

Ian Wright is one of the few pundits I can stand, he may not say much footballing-wise but at least he's funny and entertaining.

Pundits/commentator who actually do need to removed from my TV asap:
David Pleat
Andy Townsend
Motty
Alan Shearer
Garth Crooks
Jamie Redknapp (he NEVER critisises anyone)

On the plus side at least they got rid of Grame Le Saux

Add John Barnes to that list. He's awful.

I don't mind Redknapp, he speaks his mind and says what most fans are thinking, he doesn't sit on the fence like mentioned above with some pundits.

what are you on about, he can barely get a sentence out, frequently changes the point he was making mid sentence. the man barely seems to understand english and simply picks up a copy of the sun and blurts out whatever the nation is saying. he hasn't got a single thought in his head.

i hate a lot of pundits but he's by far the worst we've had in a long time. for instance, i'm sure it was a rio ferdinand incident, not sure why, but after a game he was twittering on, they watched a replay, and he commented "its not a penalty, he clearly took the MAN.... BEFORE.. THE BALL , so he got the ball, its not a penalty".

i almost cried when someone suggested he should be assistant manager to his dad for england. Despite being heavily injured his dad got him in at southampton, and a few clubs before that where he basically didn't play but picked up pay checks, he's a twit.

as for wrighty, he can't be judged on HIS punditry if other commentators refuse to criticise a player based on his relationship to wrighty. thats the OTHER commentators being crap. everyone has friends, half the commentators played at clubs and have strong ties to ones they talk about.

shearer couldn't be more tied to newcastle yet everyone, himself included, described the game as a pathetic performance. Alan smith is heavily biased AGAINST arsenal. every single tackle he seems to have a very negative view, eery decision he says should be against us, i'm assuming he didn't leave arsenal on good terms. Smith, motson, so many terrible pundits/commentators that are much worse than Wrighty. Although i love wrighty for his arsenal days, i'm nota huge fan of his, errm, over enthusiastic personality shall we say. i don't think he's the best pundit around, but not the worst. he says a lot of pointless things, so do the best pundits. he does wear his heart on his sleeve and will say if england, arsenal, anyone he's got ties to is ****.

The difference is, Shearer described the Newcastle team performance as pathetic.

My original post is discussing singling out the individual for criticism - in this case SWP.

Wrighty is OK. He shows passion, but also knows the game - he's very logical.

Other commentators /pundits that need jobs away from football:
- David Platt, an absolute moron. Can't stand his voice either. How he is still involved in football after what he did to Forest is a mystery.
- Andy Townsend, put him in his tactics truck and blow the thing up.
- Jonathan Pearce, tamed a lot since his Ch5 days but still utterly annoying.
- Mark Lawrenson, overly sarcastic and sounds like he can't be bothered.
- Alan Smith, Sky's version of Mark Lawrenson, albeit slightly more interested.

On the otherhand the commentators / pundits I do like are:
- Andy Gray,
- Martin Tyler,
- Jon Champion,
- Gary Birtles,
- Alan Hansen,
- Alan Shearer.

He is you know! They should bring back Barry Davies. Look at his face! Just look at his face! Commentates on Draughts now doesn't he? Oh, oh what a goal!

Andy Gray is good but not sure about Alan Hansen

hes not a bad pundit per se but i just get that feeling that he secretly loathes england and is happy when ever we lose even that he pretends he is not
