Hey all

Am looking to revamp my currently crap car audio

Going to get a Pioneer DEHP6900IB headunit (to connect my ipod), but wondered what I should do about speakers, amp, and possibly a sub.

I listen to all sorts, from heavy metal, to japanese audio lessons, to drum and bass so it would be good if it performed well under all genres, but not really after any ear splitting bass or anything.

Got about £150 to spend. My current car door speakers are poo so will need replacing, could do with some in the parcel shelf too, plus amp, and maybe room for a smallish sub if budget fits / something takes my fancy.

Though the sub has to be small otherwise my snowboard wont fit in the back ;)

I would get a 10" sub and amp "package" for about £100 on the net and spend £50 on some new front speakers and fit it yourself :)

It's pretty much what I've done and it sounds great.

thx for the advice, sounds like a plan
any makes and models? really no idea as to whats good and whats not

also just looking at a few places online, prob not allowed to mention them, but do component speakers come as singles or in a pair? as the pic shows 2 but no where does it say x2

JBL are always pretty reliable to go with sub/amp wise for that budget.

I personally went for;

and;

But got the speakers for £44 on an auction site.

What car do you have?

They will sell a pair of speakers not just one side :)

nice, was looking at JBL but this one

yours is 10" though which could be better for size constraints

components was looking at some vibe ones, though not sure if I need 4 or 5 inch ones yet so will wait until the morning so i can measure the ones in there

lol guess your right with the speakers, thought I would ask just in case though :P

and have a 91 civic 1.6 vti

Cool, always liked thos civics!

That package looks fine, i'm sure you'll be more than happy with it. Takes a little while to tweak the levels to get it sounding right but well worth it.

Vibe are decent, to be honest a new headunit, sub and front speakers will transform the stock sound system in most cars. (Well obviously :D).

:)

Don't forget to look at the second hand route.

I got an almost new, top quality JL sub for £15 on ebay - had to go and pick it up, which cost me about £10 in petrol. £25 for a sub that was selling on CAD for around the £90 mark wasn't bad ;)

Vibe are fine, but if you could strech to some Alpines, Infinity's etc in the front then that would be a nice difference.
