Ok, their are a bit stricter on freedoms in Islamic states, but maybe we should compare child pregnancy rates, failed marriages, binge drinking, yob culture amongst others before determining which is the better society ;)

That is completely different... that is a reflection of giving people the choice to do as they wish. Some people choose hedonism, but there are PLENTY of people who coose to live a good and moderate lifestyle in the West. Islam doesn't allow for freedom of choice, it's like an iron hand around the throat.

I don't believe the West and heavy Islamic cultures can ever co-exist peacefully at least in the forseeable future ... I find Islam the antithesis of any democratic society that promotes the freedom of choice.

Are you suggesting we take action against a country in which the person broke the law?

What do you suggest- going in and invade the country? LOL! She went to that country willingly and she has to accept the punishment. If a Sudanese national broke the law here then they'll be punished according to our laws.

We have zero right to force them to change there laws. Although the British embassy could someone get reduced sentance.

If you went to the US and killed someone would you be extradicted to the UK and serve jail term here, or would you be executed in the US? Would you kick up a fuss for a English person who commited a crime in the US and punished in the US? No you wouldn't.

Regardless of whether we think it's right or wrong, it's there law. As much as there law with punishement for gays. There country, there law.

Yeah and maybe stoning to death of young girls and rape victims, beheadings, and amputations. You want that kind of society, live in one of those backward brainwashed countries.

Why are there so many foreign workers in those strict muslim states ? because the all the workers goto religious school and learn the quran. hardly anyone trains for an actual proper job.

hence the massive amount of foreign oil workers in Saudi arabia.

Oh come on that's a stupid comparison... it would be obvious to ANY rational being that she in no way intentionally broke the law... the UK equivalent would be something as mind-numbingly petty as accidental tresspassing by walking over a line without meaning to, and when it was obvious that a person had done it completely accidentally all charges would be dropped. If any of these Sudanese Islams had the slightest shred of sense instead of seeing a criminal they would see a women who has DEVOTED HER LIFE to helping and educating young Sudanese children. It's painfully obvious she hadn't a clue she was doing anything wrong, she thought she was being kind to the children who chose the name! If she is charged and whipped, even jailed, it will forever cement my belief that Islam is not compatible with the ideals of the West, and never will be. It's ****ing disgraceful. Evil.

While I realise by the time I reply you've at least slightly backed out of this statement, I have to point out that the above is one of the single most moronic things I've read on this forum. I'm quite happy for people to have opinions, but when they verge on similar opinions of one infamous Nazi Party leader, you're going too far, joking or not.

Next time, try thinking carefully before you post. Without the anonimity provided by this forum, I doubt you would have made the same statement out in public.
 
I was telling this story to two lads in prison today and both of them are called Mohammed and are Muslim.
They thought it was completely stupid however they wouldn't mind me being flogged for trying to teach them.
 
Just thinking like, if you were her and you got found guilty, which punishment would you prefer? 6 months in a Sudanese jail, 40 lashes, or say, a £10k fine?

Me? I'd go for the lashes. I'm too young to have been caned at school but I don't reckon it could hurt that much could it?
