Hi there I am hoping some fellow forum member(s) are from Brazil or live there or have lived there. I need numerous bits of advice if possible and am hoping some kind hearted soul can indulge me.

is there a working time regulation in place there - i have seen conflicting evidence and am thus unsure?

also have numerous other questions, so will first hope for some people to get back to me before i pose the questions.

thanks so much

Depends on the info you require and what part you are asking about;)
There's a forum member who lives in Rio.
That will be me then, although someone else has experience of Sao Paulo.
Just watch 'City of God' -- all you need to know. :D
Couldn't be further from the truth, Have you been?
Please don't make jokes of Tragic accident
Agreed

ok well i have numerous issues:

are there working time regulations - from my research there seems to be a 44 hour regulation, but i cannot find any details concerning an opt out. so can people only work 44 hours a week? that seems impossible since many jobs require more hours, so what is the procedure for them?

is there any law on private business re: having to employ a certain number of brazilian nationals? i think for public sector there is but this does not apply to the private sector?

i also need help with the finance district on sao paulo - are you familiar? there seems to be 5 finance districts in sao paulo. can you suggest any resources with info on this - in particular office space etc.

mctiny seems to be the man to talk to - would you be willing to talk to me via email also? really need your help - it's not a lack of research but there is so much conflicting info out there.

appreciate your help (all of you)

I'm not the guru of Brazilian life as it may seem, after all I have only lived here since May, having said that though, if you head over to www.Gringoes.com there are many people there who will be able to help

I'm sure that when you set up a business here you have to employ a number of Brazilians (5 or 10 I think), I think this is both public and private sector.

Drop me an email any time.
I'll be able to help answer your questions better that way.
