Top Gear Returns Sunday 7th October

True but I can completely understand that someone taking the pee out of what he knows to be a good car is slightly infuriating to him.

Theres more to life then money and that especially applies to anyone who owns something that ancient and has put a lot of personal effort into fixing all the things they were criticising

However I thought the SD1 spinning its wheels up a steep hill was especially funny :D Ive been up hills like that in a 200 quid car, the bonnet filled the windscreen view it was so steep but it wasnt about to wheelspin anymore then a modern car

Did I miss the point? I thought Jeromy just did it on purpose so that he could create a smokescreen and pretend he had held his car on the handbrake?

"There's more to life than money"

Really?? You know this, I know this but I have NEVER met anyone who sold me a car that thought this!;)

I can understand the guys feelings. I thought to myself while I was watching, "funny really as we (my family) have had a number of BL cars in the past and they've all performed perfectly with hardly any problems" But you have to expect this kind of thing with Top Gear. I did think they went over the top though with the door "falling off" of the Rover and the amount of bits that "fell off" of the Sprint.

As I said in an earlier post though, they need to do this in 30 years time with some cars from today. To be honest though, i'm not sure any cars that are built now will last 30 years! To much technology and such that can go wrong, etc. :)

You sir, have never owned an Alfa. Or anything else with a sole.
You are right about that, financial situation dictates I can't afford to buy a car I want just a car I can afford, hence I drive a 5 yr old Focus Estate.

Sure I can understand it if you have a car that is special, fast or beautiful but the Dolomite Sprint is in neither of those categories IMO

I can understand why the guy feels so crap about it - he clearly spent a lot of time and money on the car. People who do no more than drop their car to a garage for a service once a year will never understand the attachment people who restore cars feel towards their cars.

If TG were motoring enthusiasts like they claimed, then they should have bought 3 tatty sheds that were just about road legal. They would have still had the hilarity and it would have meant that 3 of these cars in decent condition would have been kept on the road.

That's a real shame about the Sprint, they're one of my favourite cars and I have every intention of buying one when I actually need a car (not much use at the moment it must be said). They really ought to have bought a really rough example instead of wrecking a sound one.

Has anybody seen or heard about Lewis Hamilton doing a lap in the reasonably priced car? Just been talking to some friends on IRC and one of them mentioned it. Wondering if anybody else had?

Apparently Lewis Hamilton is on the next show, this Sunday! Should make up for the complete and utter blandness that is James Blunt as the SIARPC!

Just been on the radio bbc2, that this is the last series for one of the presenters. According to a few of the audience that they were talking about it inbetween recording

Hope its not true

I hope it's just rumors. It really would be a shame if one of the presenters were to leave. :(

I bet it will be James May. He seems to have been the butt of many of JC and RH jokes this series and I just sense he doesn't get along with them as well any more.

A few people phoned in who were also in the audience and said they think its Hammond because of the way he acts in between recordings, just seems like he doesnt want to be there

I like him but he's the most annoying and least funny of the three. It'd still be a big shame to see any of them go, though.
