hey guys, i've already got a water cooling system installed but plan on switching to air, briefly, i'll be grabbing an ultra 120 extreme since it seems to the favoured (except for the dodgy base :S). my question is i already have a d-tek fuzion installed, would the 120 extreme simply fit over the existing mounting i have for the fuzion? they look very similar except the thermalright has a back plate

No. It uses spring-loaded pins to get the correct tension on the CPU. And get a backing plate for the FuZion - it'll drop your temps, I promise!

damn, i was hoping i could just slip the extreme over the exisisting pins and screw it down using the springs for the fuzion.

i'll have a google and see if i can find a backing plate for the fuzion
