Ok, well I may have been in an accident this morning (my fault) and I'm fairly sure my car - 1994 Honda Prelude - will be a write off. So I'm thinking with the insurance money from it and my savings I will have around £2000 to get a new car and was looking for suggestions of replacements. I really loved the Prelude and would like something similar, no hatchbacks but would want mainly a fastish car thats a very comfortable cruiser. Any suggestions welcome!

yes, avoid.

more than likely a BMW that age with that mileage could potentially cause you a lot of grief especially financially with maintancence\servicing costs. Especially when you only have £2k in the first place. I would stick with japanese tbh.

on the other hand, it could serve you a good few years of motoring, however the odds are stacked against you on a 16 year old car like that.

So far I can only really find an ST24 at around the £2500 price which is a bit over budget, any other suggestions would be good, not entriely sure where to start looking as most cars in my price range seem to be hatchbacks which I hate!

Haha, could get an Alfa 156 and get myself a nice few years of trouble filled motoring!

Ok, I'm now seriously considering a 2L 156, they're very good looking cars!

Yeah, I know I'd spend half the time driving it, the other half getting it repaired but they reallly do look nice, I really dont want to end up with a crappy Mondeo but I cant find any decent alternatives! :(

yeah, just looked at your sig. bad luck mate.

is the cambelt due yet? :p

Nope. Another 50k before thats due again. :p

Fortunately I have the good sense not to ever take it to Fiat, so for the price of what I'm sure Fiat would charge for just some spit and polish, everythings done.

Well, apart from the oil cooler pipes and the turbo. But they'll get it when they need it. :(

Only thing now is - I'm considering changing my suspension again. These coil overs feel like someone has welded up the wishbones. :o
