world player of the year - messi, kaka, ronaldo

Very tough choice this year.

Kaka was fantastic last season in the CL for Milan, basically won the tournament for them with some of the important goals he scored.

Messi is probably the best player in the world currently, simply unplayable at times and scored arguably the goal of the decade at the end of last season.

Ronaldo was the driving force behind United's title win last season, they'd never had won it without him, not shown similar form so far this season though.

I'd give it to Kaka personally.

Ronaldo has been every bit as good this year as he was at this stage last season. Scored more goals too. He peaked betwen December and March last year.

Not sure who I'd give it to, not sure Messi was that great last year apart from a few amazing goals. Ronaldo and Kaka both carried their teams in certain games, not sure Messi did this. I didn't watch Kaka enough in Serie A to judge how good he played in that, but based on the CL you'd expect him to get it.

Yeh he's only scored 11 goals in his last 12 games

Ronaldinho scored over 20 goals last seaosn yet most thought he was well below his best, goals aren't everything ya know, especially when your talking about the best players in the world.

Ronaldo has not had the same impact in games this season compared to last season.

1st: Kaka
2nd: Messi
3rd: Ronaldo

Kaka will win it simply because Milan won the CL and he was the star of the tournement. To be fair he deserves to win it anyway, his performances vs Utd were incredible especially in the first leg where Milan didn't play that well.

Ronaldo should come 2nd but i doubt he will, Messi's Argentinian and plays for the fasionable Barcalona side which seems to count for more in these awards. The way in which he's started this season will help him too, like weringo says he's easily the best player in the world atm and i wouldn't be suprised if he goes on to regarded alongside Maradona and Pele.

This may possibly be the first year in a long time where the actual winner has deserved to win it, too often the biggest name or captain/star player of a WC/CL winning side wins it despite not playing that well throughout the year.

Yes he has lol, I've watched every game. He's made numerous assists and scored vital goals.

He makes a massive impact when in the team. Please tell me what exactly he's not doing aswell?

He hasn't made any assists in the league and only had 1 in the CL so there goes that arguement, and he's scored 4 maybe 5 "vital" goals so far this season.

Some teams have also figured out a way to mark him out of games, resulting in him looking quiet for long periods of some matches.

In 14 games? Not a bad record if you ask me in regards to "vital goals". Infact he's actually scored more vital goals, well I consider these vital:

- Winner against Lisbon away
- Winner against Lisbon at home
- Winner against Brum away
- Two important goals against Wigan when half our team was injured
- Two goals against Kiev away which won us the game
- Important goal against Arsenal away which should have won us the game
- Two goals in the 2-0 win at home to Blackburn

Infact thats 10 of his 11 which I consider vital. Maybe you could argue against the Wigan goals as we'd have won the game without them probably. But the other 8 were pretty vital.

I never specifically said the league though did I? He's made a couple in th CL.

Marked out the game.....rubbish. It's no coincidence that man utd's only two defeats have come in games where Ronaldo has not played. He's been the catalyst in most of our games. Your argument was that he's not shown similar form. If anything it's been better!!

I'll give you 6 of those :p If you win a game by two goals you can't include both goals, only worth 3 points afterall.

I said PL+CL and he in fact just got 1 in the CL as I said.

At no point have I said Ronaldo is playing badly, just when you compare him to last year where he was argueably the best player in the world for a while, it's quite frankly an insult to the man to say he's playing a the same level.

i think maybe some feel ronaldo isnt playing as well because they expect a certain standard from him now, after showing consistent form last season. if he is below par in a game now he's get slated! personally i think he's having another cracker of a season
