'Muhammad' teddy teacher arrested

Perhaps because if they do basically called "heretic" and get murdered by the extremist groups?

Then the problem will never be resolved. Until leaders in free speaking countries stand up to the extremist then Muslims throughout the world will still believe that the extremists are right. We lost a lot of young Muslim men from this country during the more recent ME conflicts through nothing more than cowardice from Muslim leaders? Is that what you are saying?

Christianity and RC periods in our history was the same...better to keep quiet and stay alive then be a hero and end up dead.
...And yet some people did stand up to them. It was done and it is past. If they hadn't been stood up to then they'd conceivably still be here today acting in the same way.

very true..but we got it out of our system 400 or so years ago..these daft sods still have not moved forward...except they have guns now instead of rocks
Thats the point. We know that what they're doing is wrong because we are far more advanced than they are. We cannot easily affect this unfortunately.

The point he is making and which you seem unwilling to accept is: just because people claim to be speaking and acting for Islam, does not mean that they are. The idea of a Sufi sect behaving in such a way is frankly laughable and tells me they are just masquerading under the title in an attempt to gain some legitimacy.

so why wouldnt the sufi sect behave in such a way..and why would it be reported thay had?

I am only reading whats being reported..do you have some other line of info?

He's not denying their behaviour, only that they are the voice of Islam.

so they are like methodists within the christian church?

they follow the same religion but some of the small print differs?

What they are doing and what the cartoon protesters did is voice their own personal opinions, they not speak with any authority on behalf of Islam.

But no one speaks with any authority on behalf of Islam it seems. So we get the information where we can. There have been a string of incidents that basically support the view of Islam being a somewhat backward relgion from a western point of view.

To me this doesn't reflect badly on Islam, it reflects badly on the morons who go round getting their Bhurkas in a twist over the slightest little thing.

Then you are very much in the minority. Muslims are currently calling for this womans death in the name of their religion. Muslims called for the deaths of cartoonists and people who printed the cartoons in the name of their religion. Muslims called for the death of Salman Rushdie in the name of their religion. Theo Van Gogh was killed by a musmlim in the name of their religion. If you can't see why the average person would start to equate such behaviour with Islam as a whole you are incredibly naive.

The Federation of Student Islamic Societies (Fosis), which represents more than 90,000 Muslim students in the UK and Ireland, said it was "deeply concerned" at what was a "gravely disproportionate" verdict.

Even that "condemnation" is irritating. Unless "gravely disproportionate" now means "shouldn't have been charged in the first place". Thank god she was only given 15 days or they would have had to go from "deeply concerned" to "slightly annoyed".

it does reflect badly on islam..these people were instructed to protest by their mosques

"The crowds streamed out of mosques after Friday sermons, as pick-up trucks with loudspeakers blared messages against Mrs Gibbons."

"a Sufi sect within the country had called for the demonstration and he spotted the sect's green flags among the crowds.
"

these people were instructed to shout for her death by their moral guides..the people that basically run their lives, their instructors in their faith

it reflects entirely on Islam because the people who preach this faith are telling their followers to protest against this preceived slight on their faith

any god who would see a person put to death for this sort of thing is a god not worth following..and you would have though a god worht his salt would have done something about it, but he lets people commit acts of unspeakable horror in his name instead

its a fairy story same as christianity to me..however I can say that in this country..is Sudan I would be lucky to escape with my life it seems, God , Bhudda, Allah...cobblers the lot of it

This would still only reflect badly on the individuals, the preachers are still human and interpret things differently to others, and do not speak with absolute authority for Islam.

It reflects baldy on the preachers for teaching the word of islam to mean that someone should be killed for such inconsequential act. Instead of teaching peace and tolerance, which I'm sure is also in the Koran.
It also reflects even worse on the morons who do not have the intelligence to see the garbage the preachers are spewing for what it is and apply their own personal logic to the situation.

This would still only reflect badly on the individuals, the preachers are still human and interpret things differently to others, and do not speak with absolute authority for Islam.

So even when the religious leaders are leading the protest it STILL doesn't reflect badly on Islam? Exactly when would it start to reflect badly on Islam?

Then you are very much in the minority. "White people" are currently calling killing people in Iraq in the name of Democracy. "Whote people" are currently wanting to go to war with Iran in the name of freedom. "Whote people" are currently carrying out a nasty embargo against Cuba. "White people" are supplying arms to many nasty regimes. If you can't see why the average person would start to equate such behaviour with "Whote people" as a whole you are incredibly naive.

See how generalisations are really not logical?

See how generalisations are really not logical?

Isn't this what you do all the time though with Iraq?

Edit: Not to mention that most of the generalisations you made actually make no sense and make me faintly embarrased to see my name attached to them. Especially the misspelling of white.

Also could you tell me where I made a generalisation?

The only problem comes when it is only the extremists and those not following the doctrine of Islam (apparently such as Sudan) that the general populace of the West hears about.

Where are all the peace loving Muslim leaders? Either keeping quiet or simply not interesting enough.

It is my belief that the peaceful Muslims of the world don't do enough to shout down/contest the scuzzy mussies of the world. Calls to arms against the infidels of the west and such.

This may happen and I'm not for a second saying it absolutely does not, but we don't see it enough.

There is a statement in this article condeming this whole inccident by a group of almost 90,000 muslims, there has also been British Muslim leaders on morning television condemming it every morning since this story broke.

I'm sure there are Muslims who would love to shout down the scuzzies but like you say that would probably not be nearly interesting/juicy enough of a story to warrant the coverage the screaming morons get.

Yup, just another form of mind control. And i'm not saying this about Islam in particular, I'm saying it's all religions. :)

i agree and that's why i refuse to accept religion or base my life around it

"thank god" i was born with sense :D

I think he was agreeing with you...

Crowds of people have marched in the Sudanese capital Khartoum to call for a tougher sentence for a British teacher jailed for insulting religion.

utter spastics

Once again, the followers of the peaceful and serene religion of tolerance take to the streets!

BBC Article said:
According to some agencies, some of the protesters chanted: "Shame, shame on the UK", "No tolerance - execution" and "Kill her, kill her by firing squad".

Makes me wonder why we bother trying to help these countrys, they are all completely mad and dont deserve a place in the modern world. They are irrational and inhumane beyond belief, I know the western world does questionable things, but really, the woman let the kids call a teddy muhamed(cant even be bummed to spell it properly, not worth the effort)
which they voted on, and shes being made out like shes set their <insert book with a few storys that people idiolise here> and attack <man of the cloth who probably fiddles children and incites hatred and inequality>

KHARTOUM (Reuters) - Hundreds of Sudanese Muslims, waving green Islamic flags, took to the streets of Khartoum on Friday demanding death for the British teacher convicted of insulting Islam after her class named a teddy bear Mohammad.

says it all really as far as muslims are concerned, what good, does the muslim religion actually do for society ?
