i have 8800GT to go with all that, could someone have a look and see if its all comatible, that would be great.

any ideas to change anything is good.

thanks

are you going to overclock?

if so get the e2180 and either of the followign coolers
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775)
or
Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme CPU Cooler (Socket AM2/LGA775) and 120mm fan of your choice
or
tuniq tower
and put any money saved to something

there are plenty of guides on this forum alone about overclocking it is very easy to do. it also means getting a faster cpu for less money

the e2180 is repeatedly reported on the forum to reach between 3 to 3.5 GHz while e6750 values are a bit unknown to me as their average speed when overclocked does not seem to appear much (or i dont seem to see any).

i believe there is a 15-20% difference in performanc betweent the E2180 and 4mb cache chips (in SOME applications) but most are unoticable apparently......... save urself some money and get the E2180 a clock it to 3.2ghz wid the tuniq tower

Do you have insomnia? If so then read up about the ATX standards at formfactors.org, if not then just accept that ATX 2.0 is all you need and anything beyond that is simply a bonus that makes no real difference.

I'm also not sure why you started this thread when you still have another one here but no matter. :)

this thread was mainly because of the atx issue, you expect people to just know that theres no diference between atx, atx2, and 2.2 exactly, thats why theres something called asking, which i did.!

Having two nearly identical threads in simultaneity is certainly a breach of etiquette. He mentioned it but did not comment on it. I think you were a bit too harsh to the man, that's all. :)

I was rather tired when I got in last night so perhaps didn't explain myself as well as I might have but for a modern PC you need ATX2.0 compliance and as I said, anything beyond that is a bonus. If you want to read up on it then formfactors.org has more information about it but anything with a 2.X revision is a minor one and therefore not really necessary to read about as it is quite frequently something like "relabed pin headers in manual" or something equally inane for most. :)

i see, i have the money in my bank ready to buy but i just cant chose the cpu :(,

personally rite now i would get the e6750 only because i havnt overclocked before, and im scared of buggering up, and its a good cpu what dosnt really need overclocking, so its gonna be stable on stock. no messing about.

On the other hand i know that if i got the e2180 i would be saving 60 quid, But as i said untill i actually got it overclocked to and it was stable i wouldnt be happy, but allso as i said im still unsure about how to overclock. so even though im ready rite now to buy i still dont know..

its just how long would it take to overclock ? and would be better if there was a step to step guide for a perticular overclocking software so its so eays for a noobie like me, if i got the e2180 today i just wouldnt have a clue where to start even though ive had a read of them guides, yes there allways one ;) me
