**CALL OF DUTY 4 MODERN WARFARE**

I just join who ever to even it up and every server I've played will balance the teams, but some just go back. :(
 
This is cute, now when i try to play multi i get the error "iw3mp.exe" has stopped working and it closes out. Checked their forums and it seems theres a lot with this issue, renaming a sound file is meant to fix it but lots are reportig it doesn't. Reinstalled and nothing =/ (sp still works oddly enough)

Not missing out on much as i got bored of it a few hours into playing it. Single player is good, multi just feels far too consolised.
 
Finally got this game today and wow! I enjoyed the first CoD and United Offensive but since upgrading to an 8800gt i've not been able to get them to run decently! Most of my games are pretty old but this has to be the first game i've bought that provides justification to my gfx card purchase, i'm finally able to see what it is capable of. I just never imagined the level of detail that the game provides. Hope i'm still playing games in 20 years time when i'll be in my 50's, heaven knows what games will be like then!
 
Forgot to say! Because i'm an idiot can someone provide me with an idiot's guide to joining a game online? I've only ever played the PES games online before and am interested to see what this is like online.
 
Just played online, wasn't that hard to figure out. However, i'm terrible lol. Managed to make 3 kills whilst getting killed 38 times! I just kept laughing, it is insane!
 
I would like to join in the fun online with some of you fellow forum members. Is there an OcUK clan? How do you fellas get together online? is there a particular server i should look for? As you can tell, i'm a noob at this online stuff.
 
Am totally hooked on the MP now... was playing almost all of yesterday, and am desperately trying to get myself off it today. I feel guilty when I spend too much time playing games....

My kill rate is now usually two to three times my death rate, except for certain maps, so obviously getting the hang of it.

no, no OcUK clan

we dont

and no there are no servers more special than any others

i tryed to start an OcUK community for COD4, but nobody seemed interested because primarily people couldnt agree on what to play

the problem with COD4 is there are so many game modes, and in that, hardcore versions of those game types

and most people will only play there preferred game type. Just join a server and have fun.
 
Just wondering if anyone here can help me out, ive just posted this on another forum but no replies as of yet, so gunna post here. copied and pasted :)

Right since I bought CoD4 I first had problems with shadows & models stuff been completely black, after searching around I found the beta nvidia drivers fixed this so that was on problem down, however since I have installed these drivers they did fix the game for so long until suddenly the game has became extremely choppy. Im talking like 20fps MAX its wierd as hell.

No matter what res or settings I put the game at I will get NO MORE THAN 20fps, it seems like something is ******* but I cant work out what. All other games run perfectly fine, the only other "latest" game I have is ETQW however I can run that at max settings on a large server and I get no issues.

If anyone has any suggestions that could help me out much appreciated. I have already tried checking for latest drivers etc.

My rig

E6600 @ 3Ghz
Asus P5B-E Plus Mobo
2GB Geil Ultra RAM 5-5-5-15
7900GTO @ 675/800

My native res is 1440x900.

My only other thought is a reinstall of CoD4 but do I need to back anything up or is the rank system not saved on the system itself.

i would suggest a complete re-install. You need to back up your profiles folder. The ranks are stored on your PC.

theres even a freeware utility that backs your profile up for you. Search for COD 4 profile backup on google :)

you may even need to re-install windows tbh, when was windows installed on your rig ?

reformatted about 2-3month ago

edit - updated bios and chipset drivers, just ran cod4 seemed ok. will see how it goes though :)

now AI suite doesnt wanna work but thats a different matter
 
Hi guys, got a problem!

Just installed my copy, multiplayer loads up fine, but singleplayer doesn't.

Getting this error:

"Cannot locate the DVD-ROM

Please insert the correct DVD-ROM, select OK and restart application."


Now, the CD is in the drive, it installed from it, it autoloaded the menu to pick singleplayer/multiplayer etc, yet it wont start the game in singleplayer...

tried going through multiplayer and using the "switch to singleplayer" option and still no joy.

Edit:

Tried the help on the cd, with turning the autoplay off, and turning emulation software off but still no joy.

Everyone on here must be rubbish if they're moaning about nade spam. Sure on the ship level and the container level then its sort of the case, but on the other 11 levels it isnt. Sure i get killed by a nade quite often but if you're skillfull enough they're easy to avoid.
