Way to change system information.

Does anyone know if it's possible when you view system under control panel to manually edit the system information and enter a different processor to the one in the machine.

None that I am aware of. Out of curiosity, why would you want or need to do that?

A friend has bought a pc that doesn't run like you would expect it to with the specifications showing.

Just changing the list of what components are inside wouldn't make it any faster or have better performance as you would need better performance parts.

Overclock the processor and RAM?

So you think it may be a possibility someone has sold him/her a lower spec machine and changed the system settings text?

If so, I'd say that is very unlikely and the performance issues are caused by something else.

If you're unsure whats isnside the box, forget windows then, check in the BIOS, and tbh check physically inside the machine

The CPU and memory will give themselves away upon bootup...

Also things like CPU-Z and GPU-Z will tell the truth.
