Hi all,

My sister is wanting a 32" HD TV for xmas off the parents - budget £500.

The LG 32LC56 32" HD Ready Freeview LCD TV looks a FAV at the moment, anyone got any advice? I know nothing and my sister/parents know less!!

Cheers in advance,

Marty

If you want something a little cheaper I can vouch for the Hannspree. Its a damn good tv and you could even get a 37" and a freeview box within that budget.

If you do get a Samsung LCD TV, first thing is to change from the horrid dynamic picture mode, change to standard, decrease sharpness, disable DNI-E, movie plus, active colour.

I'm currently also looking at a tv for ~£500 and looking around the Panasonic TX-32LMD70 looks to be the best for picture quality (if anyone knows how does this compare to the samsung?)

me too - I'm looking for a new TV around the £500 mark, gotta go well with a PS3 too.

the samsung above looks great to me, but I don't really know what to look for.

AV Forums for a start ...

Depends on the series. The cheapo stuff is made by third parties using generic panels, the proper Bravia's are made in Japan using Sony/Samsung panels.

Don't get me wrong - if Sony make decent stuff I'll buy it. The old Trinitron CRT TVs were excellent and I've used a FD Trinitron monitor for years because I can't find anything better. I've got a Sony AV Amp/DVD/CD etc. But cheap LCD TVs with a price hike and a shiny Sony Bravia sticker do not make it any better than say a Hanspree using the same parts.
