I look terrible in pictures

I was playing around with my mums 5.0MP camera and thought it would be fun to take some pictures of myself

when i uploaded them to my PC i was so shocked at how TERRIBLE I looked :(

normally when i look in the mirror i am very happy with how i appear
but i looked absolutely different to how i look in the mirror
didn't think it was possible but its like two completely different people

in the picture my nose looks HUGE and my skin looks like 10 year old leather
and my face just doesn't look "right"

i just don't know what to believe

what do truly look like my reflection or the picture :(
 
I would say photo is more what you look like.

easiest way ask someone you know if that looks like you in a photo.

You probably just see yourself different in a mirror.
 
Could be a combination of a few things. You are not photogenic and you are not good at photography. I would guess more the latter, most people don't know how to operate a camera.
 
Not many people look very good when close ups are taken, as they show all the imperfections in high detail, while the distance masks them to an extent.
 
I always look rubbish in photos but am happy when I look in the mirror. I think its they way the photos are taken. For example pictures of me that are natural and I'm not trying to "pose" look fine. Also if I need to have a photo taken for whatever reason I either get my bf or one of my friends to take it as they seem to be good at taking them ? :D
