Photo turns everything flat, which means most of your facial features will be visible in a photograph clearly, compared to naked eyes. With that being said, whilist adjusting camera angle (for example, having the camera at at least an arm length and higher than your portrait level) you would usually achieve better results. However that is not always the rule.
Also try not to deliberately pose when taking a picture of yourself, you tend to look nervous and unnatrual. Think professional models, putting lighting/post-production aside, they always know how to pose properly during a photoshoot, and would look very natural as well.
Strong light (adjusting contrast/lighting to bright) would hide away most features of the face, flattern everything except your eyes, nose and mouth would also achieve a desire effect.
To sum up this boring long input, just take many photos of yourself, or pose on your own webcam. Eventually you would find the best pose/angle to take pictures of urself (although it might get boring after, since all of your photos are in same pose/angle

)
