Evening everyone,

I think my card is on the brink of dying...Or something along those lines.

It's weird, in crysis I get random flickering and spikes of textures etc...I used to rectify the problem by installing the graphic card drivers again etc, but now I can't seem to get the game to work properly...

I thought it might be just the demo thats 'dodgey', so i uninstalled it, I then tried a few other games, and they seemed fine. However I just tried the DiRT demo, and the same thing happens there.

I used to use Ati tray tools, I uninstalled them, and installed ATI tool, now when i click 'default' to load my default clocks, and click scan for artifacts...You wouldn't believe what it comes up with, instantly starts throwing them at me. If i don't cancel the artifact scanner, it will make the monitor go into standby.

I can only think of one thing, I did try to overclock my card a couple of days ago, literally by a few mhz, but it didn't like it. I also upped the voltage from like, memory voltage etc from 1.950V to ~2.011...I've since got rid of that. (As im using ATI tool...)

Any ideas gentleman? Or should i continue to just uninstall all ati software (again...=/ ) and hope for the best? Starting to bug me.

Thanks.

Hello mate,

Out of interest mine has starting doing the same, what brand is your card and when did you buy it?

Mine is a Connect3D bought in Aug 2006. The warranty papers say it has 2 year return to point of sale cover.

OCUK are saying they only cover the first 12 months and I need to return it to Connect3D, however there is no RMA process I can find for Connects3D and they just keep refering me to the written warranty

Nice...Mines a connect3d as well actually :)

No idea where the receipt is though currently =/

Well the fun will begin after you find your receipt as at the moment the warranty situation is in limbo, manufacturer says in the printed warranty supplied with the product return to the point of sales and point of sale say it must be returned to the manufacturer

I've webnoted and even sent an RMA complaint to OCUK but have been told to deal direct with Connect 3D.

I'll keep you posted

Damn, I really don't know where I put it! haha

Looks like I'll just end up buying another card If I can't get this one working.

According to my emails though, it was delivered in March 2006 though.

Yeah mines never gone above 52 while playing games cause i have an aftermarket cooler on it...

I'm going to have a play with all the drivers again, I might even try the standard catalysts just to see if they cause any issues.

Kinda sucks :(

I had problems when I overclocked mine before, when running 3d apps it was using 3d clocks but 2d voltages.

Might want to check that :)

Well when I was using ATI tray tools, I had profiles setup...So the games would definitely use those setting's....

I just tried ATI tools again, clicked the default button, scanned for artifacts...And got:

It says there is no errors, but after about 30 seconds, everything stops, then my monitor goes into standby...And going by the little yellow anomalies, I wouldn't think they're too good.

Should be a way of checking running voltage within ATI tool, check it out.

When I had the problem I'd load up a game with 3d voltages but sometimes once in it would revert to 2d voltages which were far to low, if I didn't alt tab out quick enough and force the 3d voltage game would lock up and monitor would switch off.

I ended up having to reinstall windows, haven't tried playing with the voltages since, just caused too many instabilities.

Mine is running stock speeds and volts.

When I load ATI tool and scan for artifact it fails instantly...

Won't be buying anything Connect 3D in the future and will pay a little more attention to the warranty, will now happily pay a little more to stay away from the likes of Connect.

I'll check it out, just annoying the fact that I have had zero problems up untill now...And I haven't even done anything to it =/

Is there a way to view what speed your card is running at while in game with ATI tool?

Cause it's kinda working, but i cant tell if every thing's running at the correct speeds or not. Just tried the same with ATI tray tools, but still getting major artifacts with that.

ATi Tool is carp.

Uninstall it and use Ati Tray Tools.

Then you can have voltage, temp, fan speed graphs running in the background and overlays for speeds, FPS etc.

Yeah, never did like ATI tool :) Currently trying Ati tray tools again...v1.3.6.1042, with the CAT 7.10's atm.

For a moment I though everything was working correctly...But nope, same old corruption.

What voltages would you recommend? For stock 3d that is.

I currently have: 1.400/2.0122/2.0122...And I'm still getting issues, I've also tried what it says in the setup thread on here (1.4/1.950V) Same result.

It's just so damn annoying how it doesn't want to work all of a sudden!

I might even try the whole Cat suite its getting that bad! :( You can't view your clocks with the Cat's though while ingame can you?

I tell you what, I've noticed that the voltages aren't being saved in they're respective profiles. Well the memory ones are, its the GPU voltage that isn't saving, it doesn't do anything other than v1.200...=/

Regardless if I click the Apply button, and/or save button, and the 'include in profile' button is ticked as well...

Now I'm really baffled

I had problems when I overclocked mine before, when running 3d apps it was using 3d clocks but 2d voltages.

Might want to check that :)

ditto, i had that same issue, 3d speed using 2d clocks. took me a while to figure it out but once sorted it was good.

to the op, remove all drivers for ati and get rid of all the overclocking tools too. then install latest drivers for the card and then put on ati tool and run the artifact tester.

ALSo do note, that when running windowed 3d apps the x1900xt will not go into 3d speeds, (crappy ati to blame for that) which means 3d voltage will also not be applied. and from the sounds of your problem the pc freezing then black screen id say it is a voltage issue.

Thanks for posting Cyber.

I have removed all drivers etc...Several times now, I've actually lost count

I've managed to force the Gpu core voltage to 1.4, but still no joy...I still don't get why I can't save voltages correctly to each profile? That's using the 7.11's (without ccc) and the ati services disabled.

Starting to lose hope now :p
