Ive liked Metallica for a while now, after seeing them live in Earls court a few years ago. Im sitting here listening to a live track of Orion recorded in korea 2006 and thinking to myself, wow these guys are good at what they do ! :)

Who else is a fan ? and hoping to see them in UK this year !

ME! I'M A FAN! seen them 1 year at download festival, but it was their master of puppets album anniversary, their set lasted for 3 hours! it was imense! if you get the opportunity to see them in the UK though my friend, you MUST do it!! :D i congratulate you on being a fan also, WOO! :p

Hah, i went to reading this year and nothing came close to that one time i saw them in London. Im praying they play Reading next year or any other venue would do.

Mmm, I've never been a fan of Metallica's instrumentals. They seem they would be equally good or not better with lyrics over the top, plus they arn't wildly different from their normal tracks anyway.

Maybe I'm just not a huge Metallica fan... but I would highly dispute intrumental gods :p

Yup they own,

Finally got to Wembley last summer to see them, was blown away. Battery simply shook Wembley.

I was a fan from the very first album and then they released LOAD.
Things went gradually down bank and then they released St Anger which we'll say nothing more about.

I wasn't a big fan of ST Anger either. If you hear them playing the St Anger songs live though its a different story, they actually sound amazing. I think it was Metallica's bid to modernize there image.

There releasing a new album May next year, heres to hoping they learnt there lesson and go back to the older style stuff. Either way i will be going to see them if they play in the UK again.

They're ok. Of all the big bands they get boring quickly, and I can't stand listening to them in interviews. Some good tracks though.

metallica rock! cant wait for the new album when thats out. wasnt to keen on st anger but there were some tracks on it. i just hope they return to there older styles like on ride the lightning or and justice for all.

They were good not just at instrumental but at creating very good non-instrumental songs which from you post shows they have stood up to time, however they lost that crown just before the black album because of a greedy drummer who pushed the rest of the band into treating the band as a business, thus they stopped making good songs and concentrated on building a fan base when he was too daft to see that the fan base was building anyway.

Sad but true of the black album is my favourite to be honest, but fade to black does have an amazing solo at the beginning so i will partly agree with the comment above :) ^

I definitely agree with that - they have a MASSIVE sound live, and their songs from St Anger fit it perfectly. I've always found their studio performances to be somewhat hollow, but live (even recorded) they're something else. S&M (purists will probably hate me for that) and the live CD from St. Anger are my favourite albums of theirs.
