Parents (only?) - Car Seats

Mazda 5 sport.

5 Star Euro NCAP result. According to NCAP, a very safe car.

Would you apply your booster seat logic to cars - should cars with, say, a 4 star or lower safety rating be banned from sale? If not why not, given your views that safety is of paramount importance?

Oh an as an aside had you picked a 2005 Ford Focus it would have offered you 4 star child safety rather than the 3 star of the Mazda5 :p

Why wouldn't I?

Lol we looked at overall figures of having 3 children in the car too.

High backed boosters are fine for most 11 year olds too.

I wasnt going to comment, but oh my god this is actually hilarious :D 11 year old children are into fassion and have girlfriends and go to secondary school. They wont wear a certain brand of trainers let alone sit in a bloody high backed winged child seat.

Sometimes when i read your posts i feel as though i have slipped into a parallel universe. :p

Why wouldnt you apply your opinions to the cars? Can you clarify - does this mean you would advocate banning from sale cars which are not NCAP 5 star approved?

But the Focus is safer! Surely you didnt selfishly pick the Mazda over the Ford, think of the children ;)

All the kids who I grew up with who had parents like JodieG have turned out weird with no sense of adventure or discovery.

Your kids are going to grow up scared of doing anything and that makes me sad. Unless you stop wrapping them up in cotton wool and analysing every aspect of their lives from a safety point of view.

Life needs risks to be worth living.

You have no ****ing idea what I'm like as a parent so how dare you assume anything! I do everything possible with my kids and they are always out doing things, they are not wrapped in cotton wool. They are not scared of doing anything and I resent your post. I'm really annoyed now.

Dry your eyes. Its an observation from how hysterical you are getting over this car seat business. Its not meant to be a personal attack.

Booster seats have a purpose. They allow seat belts to work more effectively for smaller people in a frontal collision. Who says they were designed for side impact? What are you saying is like saying that helmets are pointless when riding a bike because they don't protect from bombs going off. So therefore helmets are pointless and should be banned.

Dry my eyes? Condescending much?

Have I not been over this already? I feel like I'm in a time loop. Let's ignore side impacts then as they never happen do they....

The strength of the car plays a much greater role in protecting the child than the strength of a child seat.

How come 20 years ago sticking your kid in a plastic bucket in the back of a 3 door astra was fine.

Now we need 5 billion star safety rated 20 airbag super predetermined mind reading crash safety equiped mini buses for the average mum and dad.
