Iiyama 22" E2201W-B1 First Thoughts

Is the 'lottery' with the Samsung screens still going on?

I have read somewhere that Samsung have said that doesn't happen anymore. There are a lot of reviews back in may/june/july with it happening but not so many recently.

I agree looks wise, if it was possible to get a spot on Samsung i would probably go for one of them.

Despite this Iiyama sporting an "s-panel", i.e. a panel manufactured by Samsung, it's NOT identical to the one used in (some) 226BWs, which have better viewing angles but also some input-lag.

And the panel-lottery with the BWs is still very much alive, in fact many retailers have stopped giving "s-panel guarantees" as there's no easy way for them to find out the panel-type. C-panel, manufactured by CMO, seems to be the most common one in recent patches but your mileage may vary.

Does the Samsung 226CW still suffer from the same lottery problem?
(Sorry last question off topic)

Oh and pics of this iiyama would be great!

226CW comes complete with horrid input-lag (think 36ms) and light-bleeding. All the 22" suck more or less as they all sport a TN-panel (the new L220x by Lenovo being a welcome exception) so buying one is the matter of choosing the one that's the least rubbish instead of looking for a good one (as they don't excist). I'd go for Iiyama E2201W. Cheap, good for gaming, ok colours, sucky viewing angles.

I had a 226bw which was a CMO panel and i felt it was the more responsive TFT i've ever had. However, even for gaming it was eventually replaced with a £40 CRT that wipes the floor with it :p

any s-panel vs 1280x1024 / @ 120hz ....tough choice :)

EDIT - OMG C64's pinched my account!! :D

Mine has arrived today. A bit too bright out of the box, i used the settings behardware recommends and they're great now.

Not tried it in a game yet, just about to fire one up and see how it goes.

I can't get over the size compared to my old 17" LCD. :D

Tried it in CoD4, Crysis and HL2:EP2 and it's amazing. Really pleased with it, and the colours are brilliant.

Now i just need a couple of 8800GT's so i can max out Crysis on this screen. :D

I hold the same opinion. I bought the screen a few weeks ago and its amazing. Had to follow the behardware guide to get the colours right. Viewing angles are great.

I'll try get some photos up before saturday. Quite busy this week

Mine has a faint buzzing when the brightness is set below 90ish. I didn't noticed it earlier as i had the TV on, but i've just come back to the computer and i noticed the noise,

Anyone else with one get a similar problem?
