I really cannot decide.

The Wii is obviously more expensive (I will be getting it for the usual £179 not the ridiculous prices some places have right now) but I feel that it will be better due to the fact we can play it together. We would love Mario Party together, I know both of us would love Mario Galaxy, Zelda, Mario Olympics, Mario Kart if one comes out etc.

I am just concerned by the fact that it seems like 90% of owners of the Wii say that after a few months it collects dust.

Benefits of the DS are that it's cheaper, probably easier to get hold of, but we can't play it together and there aren't many games that interest me.

(I just realised how bad this sounds, I am worried about what interests ME even though it is her present, haha :))

Anyway, what do you all think?

Not sure, but I would go with the DS.

I bought my fiancee a DS and then she got the Wii not so long ago.

DS gets far more consistent usage.

Good luck getting whatever you decide, both are pretty scarce at the moment.

the wii is now starting to gather pace, there are some great games coming out and soon to be released, metriod prime 4, resident evil 4 wii edition, mario galaxies, zelda, all that.

My fiancée has a DS and loves it to bits. Best buy she's ever made she says. She loves the wii too and is currently addicted to MySims which is seriously cutting down on my ps3/Guitar Hero 3 playtime! Grr. :)

I think I am pretty set on the DS now actually, primarily down to cost. I am having to go via auction though as I cannot find anywhere with stock and I prefer to buy online. Might see if there are shops in town with them though.

I'd go for the DS..more pick up and play value especially as women have a short attention span :p (Did I get away with that?) Got my g/f one for xmas!

DS with animal Crossing, also if harvest moon is on DS, That too. Also The brain training game and those Dogs/Cats games.

My girlfriend loves them all. Makes me happy, because she rarely goes for the 360.
