Xmas present for GF - DS Lite or Wii?

I'd say DS, as far as I know non-serious and girl gamers love things like Animal Crossing, Brain Training etc. She might even enjoy Pheonix Wright: Ace Attorney.

I would probably say a DS Lite. I personally prefer my DS Lite to my Wii anyway.

Eh, the DS has its own slot for GBA games. You don't need an M3. M3s are for homebrew, media and errm other stuff that i don't agree with.

I'd personally recommend an M3 Simply (or R4 which is the same but firmware comes out for it quicker, they are the single slot solutions which are much less clunky than the old dual slot options) for essential use on the DS. I use mine for music, podcasts, videos and homebrew apps/games which has a really well supported community. You can also find the Nintendo Demo Station demos for download and use it on this sometimes.

Edit: I would go for a Wii if you wanna play together.... or get 2 DSs and use local wifi multiplayer and download play to play games with only 1 cartridge (most games are limited to a few levels when used with only 1 cart but games with 2 have all the options available).
