Hey, I posted the other day with a set-up for me but this one will be for my friend...

He has a budget of 1.1k and will be mainly using it for gaming and wants to overclock it, games mainly such as Crysis an other DX10
He's building purely from scratch (Except the fact he already has a monitor, mouse and speakers etc)

So all this should be going into the Desktop itself, a case an OS also...

Regards from him.:)

This is well under the budget but other than buying more hard drives there isn't too much extra that might make a difference to the performance of the system. :)

He is ready to order this an would like confirmation it is a good set-up?
He has not ordered any GPU as he is waiting for the new G92 Bases GTS's...

Thanks again guys!

i would tell him to get a very cheap graphics card while he waits for the G92 cards otherwise his lovely new pc will not be very useful. even a hd2400 will allow him to so some basic things like using the internet or word processing or even just watching some standard definition media.

Well, considering the new G92's come out on the 11th there isnt a long time to wait, I'm pretty sure he's ok with it...

He already has a pc he uses now but very old, will an AGP Graphic card fit into that motherboard or will he have to just use his old pc for now untill he gets the G92?

He has a GeForce FX 5900 Ultra...

agp cards will not physically fit into that board as pcie and agp are completely different in size and apperance. also if the g92s are out on the 11th, why not purchase everything then?

unless he is going sli, which the p35 chipset does not support anyway, he will not need a psu with a wattage that high since the g92 GPUs use less power then the G80s.

Ok, here goes...he's ready to order just wanting confirmation etc or any room for improvments and such...

Ok, in mind this will be for gaming/overclocking, does everything look ok to go? (Except the GPU obv which will be waited for)

Any room for improvements such as a step up to a diff motherboard etc?

Thanks again!

get the Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme CPU Cooler (Socket AM2/LGA775) and a 120mm fan such as a Sharkoon Silent Eagle 2000 120mm Fan - 3/4 Pin. it will be slightly better then the tuniq tower.

Ok, followed you're advice and changed to the Thermal light Cooler along with the fan you listed... Just a quick question, is it easy to put these together? this will be mine and his first build you see...

assuming it doesnt need laping (sanding down), a problem some people report with the cooler, it shouldnt be a problem. you will more likely have problems getting the power button in correctly as i find that a large pain

thanks semi pro waster, i jsut remember a lot of stuff you older pros post and use that info to help others
