Wierd issue with the vectra at the moment..

Sometimes (about 20% of the time) when turning on;

Sidlights = drivers on, pass off
Dipped = side as above and dipped both on
Full = Just both full beam

However when you flash the lights into full (so its full + side) it causes the passenger side light to start after a few flashes!

Also it occasionally. just stops working when driving along!

Any ideas sorry if havent explained it well

If it is cutting out, it could be as simple as a contaminated IAC valve. Just pop it off and give it a good blast with some Wynn's carb cleaner and you'll probably be sorted.

As for the headlights, sounds like a dodgy connection in the unit if the sidelight does kick in after you've flashed a few times. You'll probably need to replace it, be about 35 quid from scrapyard.

Would wd40 work or any carb cleaner?

Possibly, assuming its a dodgey connection.

That said, the "stops working" thing could be a bit more problematic to solve. - Do you mean the engine stops working or, the lights?

Replacement with a Mondeo for the Win tbh. ;):D

I'm guessing the 'stops working' is the engine - it's a fairly common problem that doesn't take much fixing, and one that dealers will happily gouge you for :P

Cotton buds and a quality carb cleaner to clear out the sediment and then a good soak in carb cleaner overnight should sort it out. A blast of wd40 on the valve spindle before refitting is a good idea though.

If it is still knackered, you can get them new for around £30 quid from here.

Ah no the enging works fine its the side light that stops working, however taking it the the garage as thinking about it now it only started after they change a hose on the same side and had to remove/disconnect a load of wires

Theres your issue then mate, somethings been disturbed / loosened somehow, check, check & check those connections again.

Carb cleaner & a wire brush can help here. :)
