Microsoft have just issues a hotfix for slow performance with linked display adapters.
SYMPTOMS
In some scenarios, games and benchmarks perform more poorly than expected on a Windows Vista-based computer. This issue occurs when the games and the benchmarks use multiple display adapters in a Linked Display Adapter (LDA) configuration.

SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario:
• You have a Windows Vista-based computer.
• The computer uses two or more DirectX-compatible graphics processing units (GPUs) in a linked configuration.
• You are using a DirectX 10 application and driver.
In this scenario, the computer's graphics performance indicates that only a single GPU is being used.

Hhm, but does it actually work?
I thought they already had a Vista SLI hotfix?
I tried it and it made no difference - gaming still miles better* in XP. :(

*better as in better FPS.

No, that would be KB936710, not KB945149. God only knows why OP is confusing the issue by quoting a completely different hotfix that's already been released.
I was quoting it because it's referenced in the hotfix text under the "MORE INFORMATION" section. There ya go - now you know as well as God. ;)

I've got the two fixes (x86 and x64) now, if anybody wants them without having to resort to asking microsoft, let me know.

I haven't had time to test, was going to at the weekend (before I flatten vista and install XP to see if I can't get closer to the no.1 spot in the 3dmark06 list).

Did it make no difference at all, like stability in games that used to have issues with LDA (linked display adapters)? I'm hoping that at the least, it will solve my issues with TDU and crossfire.

I'm not 100% sure yet, as I haven't had XP installed on this machine, ever.

Judging off similar systems on the ORB, I can expect a 1000+ point increase though.
