*Unreal Tournament III*Thread :o) Game Pics & Performance.

i get artifacting in the Gateway level with my x1900...and sometimes UT crashes. I'm looking forward to an official patch

Is there a way to quickly quit the game? I can't Alt F4, and it takes ages to click through all the 'logoff' and 'exit' buttons.

Alt+Tab.

CTL+ALT+Del

But if you are in Vista it may be a problem.

UT3 aint DX10 in Vista is it?
 
Ah found a binding - add this in UTInput.ini in

C:\Documents and Settings\Your login name\My Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\Config

Bindings=(Name="F12",Command="quit")
 
Is it best to update to the beta patch or leave the game at 1.0 until an official patch is out?
Is it only beta 1.01 or is 1.02 out yet?
 
1.02 came out and was withdrawn I think due to some problems with it.
1.03 has also came out today, don't know much about it though, haven't got around to trying it myself, and haven't really got a need to

My advice is if your game is running fine at the moment, don't bother with it, its a beta, it might just make things worse. If your having loads of problems anyway, you've got nothing to lose :p

I am a developer and I have left at least a couple of todo's in my code... it's easy to forget to remove them even after the problem has already been fixed or made redundant. When you have a bunch of people working on a file it would be even worse, trying to remember if it's your todo or someone elses. Or it could be a merge of new code into old code where the old code has a todo which they forgot to remove.

The solution is to use post it notes ;).

Got the full version of this the other day at-last.. sooo much fun, the gateway map is a laugh.. and sooo graphical..
 
Been playing with mutators as well.
I got one working last night which fills up a metre (currently invisible) when you kill someone, and when it gets full bullet time is activated. You keep moving at normal speed while everyone else gets slowed down....
Or rather, time slows down 3x, everyone else stays at the same speed, you speed up 3x. And your rate of fire increases a bit too. It's quite amusing when you die while you have the bullet time as I haven't written the code to make sure it reverts you to previous speed in that case. You end up flying around the map at 3x speed.. impossible to control but fun :D.

Only working offline atm tho. Not so practical online in this form but it wouldn't be too hard to apply it to online games. Had a couple of ideas for it, maybe replace the UDamage with a pickup which fills up over time and activates when full, a la F.E.A.R., and possibly have it as a radial effect, so you become a walking slow field... Need to find out how slow fields actually work tho.

What's good about the unreal engine(s) is that modding things like this is really easy compared to the source engine. Source engine would also require a whole new mod and for everyone to download it etc.

That sounds pretty good, would like to give it a try. :p
 
Will try and polish it up a bit, i.e. have a hud element with progress toward slowmo, fix the silly speed on death and upload it.. Probably won't be in a proper releasable state but something to play with ;)

Then I'll have a go at the multi idea I guess
 
does anybody play this online?

finally got my 8800 Ultra and new monitor hooked up last night and went onto multiplayer, and there were 4 servers on TDeathmatch? all high ping U.S ones.

I bought and downloaded the game from Direct2Drive.com (us).

is there a new patch out or something or is it that nobody plays online?

It has a pretty low playerbase atm, probably because of all the problems and bugs, but I still play it online.
 
TDM is one of the least played but I've never seen less than 10-12 of them using just the not empty, pure - Any filter, and at least some of them are <50ms ping. I never search with the pure filter set to Yes... except for the annoying bug which doesn't apply your filters first time :mad:

Does anyone know how you can spectate during a match? I'm still learning the ropes and want to watch a few of my better opponents to pick up some tips. I can't find the option to do it anywhere. Installed beta patch 2 btw.

i don't think you can spectate if your in game. I couldn't find it anywhere, but you can click spectate at the bottom of server list before you join.

i hope they add the spectate feature for in game in the offical patch.
