Would this resurrect my dead gfx card?

Hey guys!

I have a gfx card called the x800 GTO2 Ltd Edition by Sapphire.

It recently broke (or at least I think so, can anyone definitly confirm this, my knowledge on pcs isnt too brilliant) - it had weird random massive spikes which covered the screen (called artifacts apparently) and made games unplayable.

The special thing about that gfx card is that it can be flashed to a x850 PE because it has the same core as the x850 apparently.

So my question is this. Would flashing this card save it?

Cheers guys :D

No, it sounds like the RAM's buggered. If anything overclocking it like that with a firmware flash could make it worse. It's probably time for a new card. Is it AGP or PCI-e? The X1950 Pros are very good cards for the money.

try underclocking it and see if the problem still happens, if so then its done its job for the past few years and retired :(

Well Ive got me ye olde x600 in atm, and its trying its best bless it ;)

I am in quite a bit of debt atm, buying a new card is not the answer... :(

Is there any chance this would work though? Would I be able to fix the ram?

Ive just looked it up and it seems they have either a 1 or 2 year warranty, and I dont think its worth it :(

Really, reeeeeeeeeeally pee'd off :(

So , your saying break the mould and have a go at overclocking it hey....hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm :)

Whats the worst thing that can happen... You'll break it... Its already broken you have nothing to lose. You can also try underclocking it at the same time, see if it helps.

Sounds like you bought a second hand card and it failed. Thats the trouble with second hand gear, it might have been overclocked for months/years which does reduce the lifespan.. The original owner didnt care because he bought an upgrade long before the card failed.. but you as the second owner got a card which didnt last long :(

Who knows perhaps it's spent its whole life overclocked, and now that its running at stock it's sulking :P

Either way if its unusable now, if it gets worse when overclocking you havent really lost anything :)
