ASUS 1GB 8800 GT-FAKE OR FOR REAL?

LMAO!

I just love it when everyone who shouts "omg it looks so obviously fake!" turns out to be completely wrong, which seems to be all the time on this forum. Especially when it's new graphics cards that aren't out yet. :p

8800GTX: OMG obvious fake!
2900XT: OMG obvious fake!

Ring a bell? ;)

Well the only people that will want this is people who cant afford the 9800 series or who have a crappy card, or if they are very rich and just like to buy graphics cards for the sake of it, maybe make a collection, the 9800 series is so close and if these hit by end of december little point moving to one allthough its possible this could do better than a GTS 512 at those higher res were the GTS 512/GT 512 gets limited by the 512mb of memory.

Obviously the only thing people can do is speculate since most of us don't rely on heresay from an unknown website until the hard fact's appear.

But now I see a press release I am happy to accept this card...... will still be a waste of time :p:D

Wait for D9E, It's a month or so away..

Good point.

Their 3d box artist needs sacked.

+1

I'm sick of seeing some sort of Ice Maiden feature on these boxes and card's or some sort of lame Dragon/Creature.

Normally looks like a rushed job, but who cares whats on the box we just want some good silicon :D.

Well that box is still definitely fake. The angle of the two top corners are completely opposite, and the top line measures longer than the bottom (yeah, I'm a sad ******* and I did check). So I'd say whoever wrote that article is one hell of a rubbish Photo shop user.

Too late that, at least it'll be like 150 and below then, well it should be.

Hi there

Why will it be too late?

8800 GT and forth coming 8800 GTS are not NVIDIA's high-end product and as such they will remain in the product lineup.

Come January/February GTS/GTX will be phased out and stock sold off cheap if there is any left, though OcUK has already started to drop pricing across the GTX range and is ahead of our competitors.

The new NVIDIA high-end will be a lot more expensive as its afterall a high-end product and will replace the 8800 Ultra and will no doubt be a similar price to the 8800 Ultra and as such the GT's and GTS will still sell fine. :)

One would hope it would be closer in pricing to the GTX....

I think you mean "a representation", not "fake."

Word it however you like... if its not real, its fake.
No, there's a difference. "Fake" implies that said box does not exist, and that said product especially does not exist, whereas "a representation" is more along the lines of said box and product existing but being recreated through digital imagery for the internet medium.

By trying to call a representation the same thing as fake, you're doing nothing but using semantics to cover up the fact that you were totally and utterly wrong. Which, to be honest, is quite pathetic.

Hi there

It will be, but not the current GTX pricing but the initial launch GTX pricing which was far higher a year ago than it is now.

GTX pricing on OcUK is now massively reduced so those who are waiting for 8800 GT's can get a GTX and not have to pay too much more.

The cheapest GTX on OcUK is currently £225+VAT, with other leading brands such as Asus and BFG around £250+VAT which is very very low for a GTX.

The GTX when initially launched was around £350+VAT and therefor you can expect NVIDIA's latest card to also be in the £300-£400+VAT region depending on supply etc. which makes it a lot more expensive than GT and GTS and hence why I say the GT and GTS will remain in the product lineup and strong sellers.

As 8800 GT and GTS are not high-end products for NV as they are yet to release their high-end solution which will also have a high-end price tag as top performance cards always do.

The only hope is ATI's new high-end solution is a good performer and they are aggressive on price and this may sway NVIDIA to offer their latest high-end for around £300+VAT and not £350-£400+VAT.

The only thing I ever claimed was that that box was fake. It doesn't exist, that box, in that picture, is not real. It is a representation and it is a fake. Heck, for all you know somebody could have just made the bloody thing in photo shop to add to the picture, it doesn't stop the box from being fake, does it? The graphics card itself is a different matter but I never suggested that to be a fake (mainly because a 1gig 8800gt wouldn't surprise me). You only have to look at the skewed design of that box to realise its a shoddy attempt at an edit, so its fake. Whether you like it or not.

But hey, its fine, I'm clearly totally and utterly wrong about suggesting a box that isn't real is probably a fake... which it is... because its not real.... totally and utterly wrong. How pathetic am I!
