One of his big problems that at 74 his hearing isn't what it should be and his mixing of instruments could be a lot better however I don't know what he's hearing.
He records on a ZOOM 1604 and earlier this year he bought a Line 6 Variax 300 guitar and Line 6 POD.
I keep trying to get him to record onto a computer based sequencer such as SONAR which I'm quite skilled with and that way I could have his tracks and mix them up for him.
I could also get him to stop doing some of the sillier voices that he throws in now & then and to get him re-record a guitar thats slightly out of tune.
I'm a bit brutal with him because I know his history and what he's done and I give him the same advice I give younger kids going in a studio which is :
Don't go in with 12 songs because you'll run through them quickly and you won't have time to listen to what you're recording. Instead go in with 3 or 4 songs max and really take your time perfecting the sound, tuning, mix, vocals etc.
He'll start a song and he's finished it in 2 or 3 hours because he's thinking about the next one.
However, how many more men of his age are doing what he does and it is only a hobby?
I've been searching for some old stuff for his 'real' voice but I can't find any.
