because its a newer cheaper card to produce than the GTX so they are shifting the tech down a price band, as ATI have done with their new lower price cards, which offer same or marginally better performance.

There might be a new G92 GTX? in which case that would have to be better and more expensive then the GTS too..

Oh yea, the reason i posted:

i owned a GTX and now have a 512MB GT.. id take the GTX every time if i played at a res higher than say 1680...
 
Just picked one up - is being delivered on Tuesday. Been looking for one of these for a while, bought as soon as I saw the price.

Keep your GT's and your GTS's, i'm going to be happy with my beastly GTX!
 
Just put in my pre order

I'll only have it for a couple of months until the 9800GTX comes out in 2 months but at least I should feel the benefit certainly in Crysis in the mean time :D

1280x768 until Christmas, 1680x1050 after that.

I know I could have probably saved £20 and still got similar results with a GT or GTS, but I couldn't do with all the waiting and the over-inflated prices of the GT's and GTS's.

I'd be more gutted if bought a GT now for £200 and then they drop to £150 in January.

im gona get my 9800GTX around june instead with a 24". well actually im getting the 24" then claiming i need a new card to run the games :)

That would be a 50 quid drop.

You will see more than a 50 drop on the GTX in the same time frame.

If the GTS stock is as low as the GT then i think i'd have problems getting a GTS for 240 in January.

Even if GTX's are 190 in Jan, i'll still be pretty happy.

Time will tell, but 240 for a GTX which will last me till next Christmas is not too shabby at all.
 
even at this price ill still pickup an 8800gts 512mb, if i wanted a gtx now id need a new case to fit it into, which i cant afford at the minute,to close to christhmas, new gts will be a nice stop gap till 9800gtx appears, and a new case to stick a new rig in
 
Hells bells, that is a steal. I was about to buy a 8800GT and then I read the new 8800GTS are out soon, so I thought I will wait and buy a GTS, now I read the mighty GTX is available for £240, hmmmm decisions decisions :confused::)
 
What if prices drop further after the gts comes out?, you could get a cheaper BFG oc or evga card. Im sure they will be going up a lot on the this week only.

Removed rant as it will only get removed by a don anyway. Might as well save them the time as its not their fault every time i order i only seem to inconvenience my self, which kinda defeates the object of saturday delivery.

Besides, whats the point they seem incaperble of actually sending anything, its not even left the warehouse for mine and i ordered before 4pm and all that. Wondering what excuse ill get this time, last time it was that i had writen C03 instead of CO3 in my post code. Even though that hadn't stoped them sending me things the last 3 times, but no it stoped them that time. After ringing up city link i found out the real reason was because they hadn't actually writen the full adress and just put prity gate road and no number or anything. Pfft, cant wait to hear the new excuse.

I only want to play Medieval Total War, I've got 3 weeks at home and frankly I'd rather have something than nothing.

However, if its not here by mid-next week I'm going to cancel and re-order an 8800GT as I really can't be arsed getting messed around.
 
Ive now gota wait till thursday because i cant do any other day and this means im going to then have to faf around with them getting them to add a GTS in and take out the ati card i put in just to tide me over till i could get a GTS. which means more work and more reasons for it to go wrong. My confidence in ocuk has now been dented quite badly as this has happened to many times now.


Anyway i gues i might as well remove this before they then have a go at me for discusing my angrer, frustration and annoyance on the forum due to being made to look bad when my parents asid is houldn't have ordered here and now they going to go told you so. Great.
