I'm getting a lot of unpredictable BSODs while using 4GB of Crucial Ballistic (on the Asus QVL) ram with my Striker Extreme.

When running Vista 64 with 2GB it is rock solid. However, with 4GB sometimes it works ok and other times it wont get past the login screen without crashing.

I've got the ram set at 4-4-4-12 with the FSB at 800MHz. I've also upped the NB voltage to 1.40 volts. Everything else is on auto. I'm also running two 8800GTs in SLi, and I've found that the strange behaviour get worse when I have SLi eeabled (which is a real bummer as it's the only reason I bought this board  )

The only thing I have't tried is updating the BIOS (currently 1203, which is old). But I'm a little reluctant incase i trash it completely.

Can anyone offer any suggestions??

Try bios 1303 (not 1305 or 1301 first), seems to be the most stable and least problematic, overclocking / tuning is also much better on this one.

Have you installed the 4gb Vista hotfix from Microsoft?

Yep, got the hotfix, still getting the occasional BSOD now, but v. unstable with SLi enabled

Yeah, think I'm gonna go for it. What is the best way of doing the update? I have ASUS Update installed...

Update from within the BIOS, NOT from within Windows.

Too many ASUS boards are being killed after being flashed from within Windows.
