My mistake, i didn't think the 3850 was that crap, it's supposedly a renamed 2900pro, and the 3870 is the 2900 XT, but looking at those benchies, even the x1900 XT/X would be a lot faster than it.![]()
You were right the first time mate. The 3850 is nearly twice as fast as a 1950 pro. The results Cyber posted could still be correct... if the 3850 was tested in a stock AMD based system and the 1950 in an oc'd core2 based system.
I'd say these results were more realistic tbh:
ETQW 1600X1200 4AA / 16AF

FEAR 1600X1200 4AA / 16AF

synixx, the powercolor 3850 that you're thinking of buying is actually the factory oc'd version (reviewed above). It's pre-clocked to 720 core / 1800 mem v's the standard clocks of 668 core / 1655 mem.
I managed to buy one last week before the etailor in question realized it was the oc'd version and whacked another £15 onto it. I wouldn't of bought it at its current price tbh, but to answer your original question (and as Loadsa has already said) - the 3850 is a lot quicker than a 1950 pro.
Just to deflect any potential fanboy comments here's my 06 GT score (ran through my hdtv at 1280x720 as I'm waiting on Viewsonic to rma my monitor) http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=3918696
