On friday I missed my dental appointment because I'd set my calendar in Outlook to remind me at the wrong time which was after the dentist had shut.
This morning I rang up explaining that I was willing to pay the lost money for my checkup but they said the law no longer allowed them to fine anymore and they would have to strike me off
It took me 5 years to find an NHS dentist and I wasn't going to go down without a fight.
I offered £25, £50 and even a £100 to stay on their books but she said it was against the law.
She asked for my name, checked the computer and said that my appointment was actually for Jan 11th and not Dec 7th :D
I blame the computer.

...but they said the law no longer allowed them to fine anymore and they would have to strike me off...

Good job you were wrong then! Are they actually allowed to do this? I know they're trying to go private, well the majority are, but I didn't know they were that desperate to get rid of NHS patients

Well, actually I suppose it makes sense. They want to bleed the nation dry.

wow that's a stroke of luck...

computers eh? all crap!

but you should make doubly sure when it comes to the nhs... any excuse...

Thank you for that informative post.
I hope you never miss an appointment and lose your NHS status.
Round here its the difference in price is massive.
6 months ago I paid £45 for fillings where a mate paid £280.

k.

Never missed an appointment for anything in my life. Sounds to me like you just need to organise yourself a little better tbh.

Setting the wrong time alarm, and even getting the complete wrong day

Perhaps some life skills are in order?

He puts one appointment in wrong and he needs some life skills? Do you know something I don't?

Think you are having a bad day matey :o

Some of the responces in here are unbelievable, honestly :p

Anyway, lucky indeed. Nigh on impossible to get a NHS dentist round here. Luckily I've been with mine since birth, althouhg the prices have just doubled. Still better then Dent-plan or private.

No, I was just brought up by my father to not be late for things, drives me nuts when my mother was late for important appointments et al.

Given how hard it is to get put onto the books of an NHS dentist, you'd think people would make sure they knew when their appointment was, getting the correct day isn't exactly rocket science.

Whenever I'm due a check up I have to book (literally) 3/4 months in advance as they claim they're booked up. When I turned up for my appointment the other week there was nobody in there except for me!

Well as it turns out he was early so there's no problem is there and even if he did miss one appointment that hardly makes him eligible for life skills.

I'm rarely late for anything as I hate to be late but sometimes things happen and you are delayed, it happens. I don't like being late for any reason not just important ones, they are all important if you have a time to be there imo.
