Hope you all enjoy them! :)

C&C welcome and encouraged on them all - more can be seen at - http://www.je-design.co.uk/band/index.html

EDIT: Please ignore the crappy water marks as a dodgy photoshop script put them in the wrong place and the wrong size.

Thanks for looking.

1 and 3 seem to loose their subjects a bit, perhaps some contrast and cropping would help?

Some are a bit blurry but nice, and the last is brilliant, really nice, although I might be tempted to clone out that thing at the top of the pole on the right, looks like a camera stuck on top of a gigantic tripod to me. But i like it.

Thanks buddy, I'll do some more work on them tomorrow with proper borders and watermarks, I've been working on them since 7 and I'm knackered lol.

Thanks for your input though :) Tis appreciated.

Im going to do something different and ignore their aesthetic value, if there is any!! Instead im going to do what my tutors do to me and ask the simplest of question, but probably the most important.
What are you trying to say with this series. (i have more question to come).

I presume this is for promotional material for a band. If so then none of them really work for me tbh. Most have technical issues (Subjects blur, focus off or dof too shallow). Number 4 is my favourite of the lot, but it does make me wonder what they were all looking at.(And unfortunately not in a good way). I would revisit this location and consider how to make the lighting better (I presume thats the flash reflecting off the window) and how to make their poses/expressions more dynamic. Sorry dude.

as a non-photoraphy guy I would agree with above. I first looked at them and thought this is def about 3 guys together.. Its either a boy band or a camping trip. But looking through them you do need to make the kids more of the subject. The only one that works in that way is the 2nd from last, cause theres nothing to draw the eye away from them.

Interesting, well a guy I work with was asked to redo their image, and he asked me to do the photos as a favour, and the general feeling was to show they are serious about their music, but enjoy being who they are (I.E a little crazy) at the same time.

Just what the World needs, another boy band!

Wow...that's...great....for your info they are a metal band, and happen to actually be good. I posted these pictures for constructive criticism, not remarks like that.

Don't be sorry, I posted these for C&C anyway :) - I appreciate your honesty and your suggestions for improvements. To be honest, this is the first shoot they had done, and the first proper shoot of a group I had done. I was a little nervous, but they were fun to work with, and the clouds were playing not playing ball at all and kept annoying me.

No 4 - Yes that is the flash, but there were not any lights in there and I think it worked prety well to be honest, and it was only the onboard flash as well, I didn't have my 430ex at the time!.

Thanks for all the comments people, I will post at lunch with better answers to peoples comments as I now have to do some work :p

What ever happened to a sense of humour??? The World would be a sorry place if there was none....

Well...I thought it was funny but if you guys are going to take umbridge then I apologise and I'll keep my humour to myself next time.

I don't have a problem with humour, as long as it's funny...for example.

Whats the difference between Princess Diana and David Beckham?

Beckham can take corners!

Ok, i think in trying to make them look a little crazy, you've over thought it a bit to much, in doing so you have moved their image from growing metal band to mcfly boyband. I know his comment was a joke, but its the way the picture connote that idea.
If your serious about doing this, then take a bit more time in preparing.
I have to agree with messiah khan on 4 being the only one id retry, not a fan of the way they are looking though, it does make you think what are they looking at, but why!!
If they are a metal band, ask them to concentrate on their image. Clothes etc.
Make the pictures a bit more moody, darker, and with more contrasty, brightness connotes happyness, connotes boyband,
Getting the metal crazy side to them should be subtle and i think should be considered last over sorting the composition, and place you take the photo as it is dominating how you take these shots atm.

To throw some ideas into the mix, a close up of one of them, say the drummer using a wide angle, twidling his sticks in his black gloved hand, looking across the frame. The rest of the guys composed around the back of him. In a dark yet selectively lit place, could be dirty, but doesnt have to be, other guy maybe looking under his hoodie at the camera, etc etc.
Will need lighting equipment but will look a million times better.

4, 7 and 9 for me.

I would reiterate what others have said but there wouldn't be much point, it's all pretty much covered. If they are metal; darker/more contrasty. Ask them to look a bit crazy, at the minute they look like pretty-boy wannabes.

For the record, the boyband comment amused me...but anyway, I agree with most of the above; though it was refreshing to see some shots that are a bit different from the normal band shots, unfortunately image counts for a lot in the music industry and that just doesn't look like a metal band. It depends if they're bothered about that or not.
