2 grand budget, has to be small, 4 door, pref. diesel but she's not overly fussed, could probably stretch to £2500 if we get anything for her old 106.

Any recommendations for what I should be looking for?

Thanks.

Focus TDi? Not sure what kind of example you will get for that money but they are a great car.

Lupo SDi. Only thing lacking there is the 2 extra doors that you are after. But they're girly, small, reliable and the diesel engines can't half go on for a while!

You could probably haggle down and shop around for a Skoda Fabia SDi, they all have 5 doors. Bit out of budget though unfortunately, but there are some bargains to be had!

Only others I'd look at personally, are a Yaris (for the price range, only petrol would be affordable but may be able to get a 5dr..roomy cars though) or a Polo.

But that's just me :)

Edit*, not my pick but you'll have a wide range of 5dr diesel HDI 206's to choose from at that price. Ticks all the boxes. Other than that, an Astra SD ticks all the boxes too.

Only thing? It's a pretty fundamental thing to lack, right? A 2 door micro-sized car is probably about as useless as a trapdoor in a canoe to somebody who specifically requests a car with 4 doors.

Read it as 4 door pref, not pref diesel. I don't think I can warrant much more of a repl..
