Hi all,

I woke up this morning to find that some little **** has been in my back garden and stole the front mudguard along with the tax disk from my scooter. The worrying thing for me is that you cant see the scooter from the road, so someone has seen me pull in and then came back later to take it. The mudguard is a very distinctive colour, which hopefully they will fit like that so i can find it :p

The annoying thing is that I need the scooter go to and from work each day, and DVLA are saying 7-10 days for a replacement. Could I just go to the post office and get a new tax disk (a year one)? As I think that the DVLA want £7 for a replacement anyway (Runs out 31st October 2008). What would happen if I got stopped and didnt have one? (I have a crime reference number)?

I just hope they don't put it on their bike/clone my plates etc.

Also the tax disk holder cost me £15

:(

Edit: And a front mudguard looks like it will cost me £40-60 on ebay.. Think I will leave it ... can't have anything anymore without some ****** stealing things..

I believe it's the law that you need to actually be displaying the tax disc, just having tax isn't enough. iirc.

You should defo phone the DVLA to make sure, you don't want to be hit with a fine.

Plus, the little **** that do this kind of thing need to be shot!

Just found this on a website:

My tax disc has been stolen. What should I do?

You can obtain a form to apply for a duplicate tax disc from a main post office. There is no exemption for driving a motor vehicle on the road because your excise licence has been stolen. In this case you would be committing an offence of failing to display.
