Hey,

Whats the deal with the B Grade stuff on sale at OCuK, is it faulty, or stuff thats not passed QC ? Or products that have been returned / repaired?

LOL why would they sell faulty stuff?

They are perfectly fine just with something missing like the original packaging, manuals...etc stuff that you won't need to get the product working.

Have bought loads of b-grade stuff from OCUK and they all turned out perfectly.

Just wondered, and stuff like when you go into supermarkets and they sell off things that are one day from Best Before for low prices, or when you get 20% off something because it's scratched or has a little chunk missing etc

And consider why it may not have manuals etc .. cause it's returned unwanted or something, other than products used for in-business testing, i can't think why a retailer would have products without correct packaging etc

I'd love to know the answer to that as well. Faulty/damaged items spell one thing - unwanted returned items or items with missing manual/proper factory packaging etc are another thing... for me at least.

Nothing wrong with B-grade, got my p5k deluxe from ocuk as B-grade and it works as it should. It didn't come with a manual, driver disk, cables, original packaging or anything that the retail version comes with but it works :D

Ye nothing wrong with B-Grade.

I bought a Hyundai 19" CRT afew years back and got it at dirty cheap price. £75, as there was a "25% off all clearance and b-grade stock offer".

Was really worried about it being in a bad shape but when it arrived it was brilliant and served me well for years after until I got a TFT.

We're talking about B-Grade here...also, no manufacturing\QA process is 100%.

But still OCUK wouldn't have sold them if they don't work 100%...

B-Grade means missing packaging/content, customer return, or scratches on the surface, but in 100% working order.

I know because half of my computer comes from OCUK B-grade, some of them were absolute bargains:

WD3200KS - £35
P5N-E SLI - £47
Crucial Ballistix 2Gb PC5300 - £35
V7 22" LCD - £125

I've had some B-Grade Bargains too.

Seagate harddrive for half of rrp, was an rma drive and I've never had a problem with it.
Microsoft webcam, once again half price, missing the original box. Works flawlessly.
Think I grabbed a dvd drive there before too.

Some things I wouldn't buy from a B-Grade section, such as an expensive monitor. Have seen people getting B-Grade screens with dead pixels, which is something that would drive me nuts and I'd do anything I can to avoid.

Ive only used B grade twice and both items were brand new sealed - they looked like RMA swapouts from the manufacturer.

A WD 320Gb HDD for £35 that shouldve been £70 and an Asus A8N-SLI Premium that i paid £35 for and at the time was selling for over £100 :D

Bought a couple of graphics cards, a router and a cheap mobo. Either came in OEM/Damaged boxes or had the CD's/Cables missing.
With the savings, I didn't really mind. :)

I got the same monitor at the same price, total bargain :D
