Vista SP1 RC Download links.

Hmm think I might download this tonight out of curiosity. Wonder if it'll make a huge difference, though it probably won't. Vista is running fine for me and always has done.

it wont make a huge diff. Its pretty much all been released already in windows update.

If that was the case then there would be no need for beta testing seeing as we have already been using everything that SP1 has with the auto updates for some time already.
It could be very likely that there are plenty of fixes being re-addressed.

That is the case, you should probably check your facts. Sp1 is pretty much just a rollup of all the hotfixes.

I think he is speculating. I too have read its simply a roll up of all the current releases. IIRC XP sp1 was of similar ilk, nothing new until sp2 apart from all that trouble with default programs for internet access.

Here we go guys.

As this is a RC use this update at your own risk.

Can we please keep all, comments, bugs and issues in this thread please so we have a single point of reference.

You can also get this from windows update from here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...0e-4275-482d-9524-de850c4dd91c&DisplayLang=en :)

Dubious because Vista's automatic update crippled my computer yesterday. It went to shut down and install the new "updates" (8 of them it said) and then windows was unable to start!

When I finally got back in, Vista's wonderful diagnostic tool informed me that it was probably due to a hardware problem. I love Microsoft. :D

I already know the facts.
And yes pretty much rollup, but that fact still remains there must be more to it than that or there would be no need for beta testing.
The percentage of new to old stuff is irrelevant if it fixes just one more thing than before it worthwhile.
You should also check the context to which im replying to then you would have understood that i was not saying that it was not pretty much a rollup, but a rollup with a few extras, but the few extras are different enough to need beta testing.

Can you test out WMP & close it while playing to see if the sound continues.

i never had any problems with that before the update?? :)

edit: and it's no good asking me about network/file copying performance either because that has always been fine since day one too. :p
