Imitation Samurai swords too be banned!!

Sounds good, there was a nutter a couple of years back who cut someone arm off with a Samurai sword where I lived nearby. Luckily the victim was able to get it surgically reattached.

Why not make beer bottles plastic as well. Would it have stopped the 3,706 people hit with them (and 16 killed) between '96 - '98.

Is there any reason why this hasn't been considered? I know some beers can be bought in plastic bottles Red Stripe maybe? It actually seems like a good idea.

No one needs to own art, stamps, watches, or anything else you consider collectible.

No, but it's much more difficult to kill someone with a stamp.

As for all these people saying 'ban knives' etc, knives are genuinely useful in everyday situations. Unless you're expecting hordes of invading Mongols, the same can't be said of samurai swords.

lol

Would find it pretty hard to kill someone with those hey!!
 Too all the people using the pathetically weak and ridiculous argument about beneficial everyday devices being used to kill people!!

Why shouldn't people be able to have replica swords Helen? Some of them are great to look at and not everyone is out to savage the country with them.
The comparisons to every day collectables being used are perfectly valid, tbh, I think we should ban all forms of art. Sculptures could do some serious damage if they're heavy and as for paintings, could kill someone by smashing them in the head with the edge of a picture frame. Too dangerous in my opinion!!!

;)

Define Samurai Sword.

It is utterly pointless, they'll be banning the kitchen carving knife next

Thats a good point actually. If I have to give up my 'Samurai swords', the Katanas, Tantos and wakizashi etc, cn I still keep my Celtic and Germanic swords?

lol

The point here is that lots of people innocently collect these items, and the people who use them in anger and violence would simply use something else to hurt or kill people with if the swords were banned.

It's narrow-sighted people like yourself that think up stupid legislation like this. You can't see that someone who is intent on killing someone has any one of a thousand items at hand with which to do so? Indeed items which are an awful lot easier to obtain and conceal then a replica Samaurai sword!

It's like DRM copyright protection. All legislation like this does is punish the innocent, whilst completely failing to protect the public against that which it is designed to do so.

Whether or not you could kill someone with a collectible item is irrelevant.

I'm sure if you gathered all the research together and found out how many people who owned Katanas are also psychotic maniacs, this would be a very VERY small figure. And even then if said maniacs didn't have a Katana they would probably find the next best alernative i.e. the kitchen knife.

The overwhelming majority of people collect "Samurai Swords" for show, just as stamp collectors collect for show, you might get the occasional nut who wants to torture you with stamp induced paper cuts however :p

I don't have any myself but I do like them and think people should be allowed to have them.

If that guy didn't kill the guy with a samurai sword he'd have used a kitchen knife, or another large knife to do something with. It's not like if he didn't have the samurai sword he wouldn't have hurt the guy.

That's so true. I have a 5 foot ******* sword under my bed at home. Every time I reach for my shoes I see it and it calls to me "Chop off their arms," it whispers, "hack of their heads" it croons.

I sometimes think that one day it's going to leap into my hands, carry me off to town and kill some people.

Swords don't kill people, psycho's do!

It seems to me that their gonna be banning the swords that aren't designed to actually be used as weapons however the battle ready swords which are used for professional/historical purposes will still be legal and availiable to buy however i reckon you'd have to prove you are a genuine martial artist / Sword collector or historian to actually buy them otherwise these mentalists are just gonna buy battle ready swords which are a hell of a lot more dangerous than the imitations

Hmm. Imagine for a second you're hell bent on killing someone. Sat in my kitchen, I/you see my imitation Katana (which I don't have but lets go with the scenario), or my Global Knife Block.

I know which I'd go for.
