Imitation Samurai swords too be banned!!

And when stamps kill 5 people a year I'll call for them to be banned too ;)

I don't understand why it's so difficult for people to understand that dangerous weapons are best kept away from the general public.

These aren't dangerous weapons. They're blunted down replicas of items that are seriously dangerous, and haven't been banned.

Define the general public that involves hmm lets see... Oh I know everyone of any job description! Basically your saying Dangerous weapons should never be used by anyone. Imagine what wars would be like:p

What hobbies do you have, and how would you react if the goverment now decides to ban it?

Would you agree with it, or not?

Or is it just because the govemerment or hassling other people, you don't give a ****?

Yet they were used in an estimated 80 attacks last year resulting in 5 deaths. Sounds dangerous to me. I'd favour banning real samurai swords as well, except for museums.

There's something a bit creepy about people who collect real samurai swords too - Bob Crow for example.

Almost anything can be used to injure or kill someone. Does this mean that everything that doesn't have a legitimate every day use should be banned?

Hell, let's go all the way and ban large stones/solid objects (could smash someone's head in), anything that happens to be thin and sharp (could stab someone), and anything else that's dangerous.

Seriously, death by sword must constitute less than 0.001% of deaths in the UK per year, and yet the government feels the need to single them out and ban them? Why not other 'dangerous' items that cause more deaths than this?

The article mentions that the attacks were 'high profile'; how is this relevant? Besides, of course they're high profile; attacking someone with a katana is a fairly unusual thing to do and is bound to draw attention.

Depends if they're justified in banning it or not. I say banning dangerous weapons is justifiied.

It seems to me that their only talking about banning Samurai imitations as they are the most popular sword I bet in a couple of years though when people move onto using any random sharp object they can get their hands on they will start to think about banning imitation weaponary altogether
