Gran Turismo 5 Prologue

Checked seems offically the game does support upto 16 cars.
I guess you pick how many you want to race against.

Now i wonder if OcUK would put the R25 on Weekly Special soon?
Tempted to buy one for this or perhaps the PS2 Wheel.

Can anyone give any input on each wheel?

It's probably with it being such a short course.

I can't imagine anyone would bother starting a race 13-16th on the grid in a race that lasts about 2mins. :p

If the AI's like the Suzuka Demo i think id want all 16 cars and be last on the grid too. The cars are too easy to pass or nudge by under braking, always have been in GT and the london video shows no real sign of defensive driving.
 
Well I was referring to online, that whole race lasted less than 2m 15s in a pretty average car, even with a grid of 12 cars I can see at least 3-4 players disconnecting at the starting grid. :p
 
Where do i start:

Lifeless tracks (no people walking about, signs dont change)
AI looks the same as before - ie stupid
Incessant tyre squeal rounde very corner - always the same sound
Cars look like they're floating
Tracks look "flat"

I really wanted this game to be different as I loved the last few GTs but they're becoming so repetitive - its looks just like the old ones with a little graphical spruce up - nothing really new or groundbreaking :(

No actually you cant.

Its GT those expecting it to be really different are bound to be dissapointed.
I agree the game will have AI issues, the audio doesnt seem to be "next gen" but visually its the best going. Im now confident on this but will know for sure tomorrow. Graphics will have faults, not trying to say some of the textures wont be ropey or corners cut in certain areas but in general to me it looks like capturing great car movement, particulary in cornering and also with a highly detailed interior inc driver. Your welcome to show us much better looking city than whats on show here.

The photo mode which has kinda become like a sub game these days will show some awesome looking images.

Did i say there was a better racer graphically? No
Did I compare it with any other racers? No

Im saying that for a game that is taking so long to make and using next gen hardware I expected a bit more than fancy car models, as tbh thats the only thing that shines graphically

Why is it too much to ask for a game to be different from its predecessors? I loved the old GTs but as I said, they're getting outdated by games that offer more. The actual driving in GT is just the same as before

Please explain to me why this game is so amazing apart from its car models?
 
Why its caught my interest....

1. Well its offering 16 cars

2. I think thats a first for consoles and its certainly the first offical time GT has went online.

3. Its 1080p (expected 960x1080 native)
Therefore technically its actually still more resolution than any 720p console title.

4. The actual city/buildings and people seem even more detailed than what for me is the current champ (PGR4) Ive looked at a lot of my own PGR4 photos and compared to the screenshots released. GT5 def seems to have the other licked in overall graphics.

5. The new interface and features will create a GT online community straight from the games menu.

6. Leaderboards, time trials and the possibility of downloading other peoples ghost cars or competing in leagues gives it additional lifespan.

I dont for one moment expect it to be great in every department but damn, weve all waited long enough for this and tomorrow will have the REAL opinions from actual gamers commenting on it. If anything PS3 needs this to be totally awesome and i over anyone have criticised Sony on some of their decisions and faults regarding PS3 in the past. Likewise if its pants plays awfull and offers little fun but all limited eye candy then be sure i will not be a happy chappy neither.

Wait till tomorrow before completely condeming it.

This is the prologue only dont forget! The real GT5 has another 8-12 months left of dev time, as for what it offers over the older GT's, this is infos from various sources some relate to GT5P and some to GT5 ( of course some may change)
16 player online racing ( no other GT game had online at all let alone 16 cars)
An online community were you can post photos of you car, and vids at a later date, share info
GT-TV downloadable car related videos going from famous races to Top Gear to driver interviews and tips
A Calander to keep track of all upcoming race events, either from friends or car manufactures. This is also updated with current weather conditions from that area of the world ie if its cold and rainy in london then you will be racing in cold rainy conditions.
Downloadable ghost for time trials, be very cool for the Top gear test track, download a Stig!
Damage and rain effects (seems like a DL part for GT5P at some point and prob in full for GT5)
Also tuning cars will alter the enginge sound it you fit a turbo and you will be able to hear the whoosh, fit a dump valve and make noise like bus brakes (lol)
Downloadble cars

Think thats about all i can remember, but in my eyes without the very nice graphics it makes it more than a worthy successor to the GT series. PD have said it wont feature all the car customization that Forza 2 did, ie the car painting, but to me all the other things that GT5 have far out weigh the ability to decorate your car as you seem fit.
 
I liked the London video, But Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner, that I love London town.

I haven't played PGR4 as much as I should have, but maybe I will fire it up later and check out some of the London shizzle.
