Surprised there wasnt a thread about this debacle already.
Basically in a nutshell the situation is this:
The arbritration panel has come back and said 2.5% wage rise backdated to September.
Police grudgingly accept. But Jacqui Smith (home sec) decides to only backdate it to December (effectively making it a 1.9% increase only)
My questions are these:
Wtf is she doing? Considering its only 30 million out of the budget she is willing to go to war with the police on this blimey.
Should the police be treated exactly the same as other public sector workers? (nurses, teachers, firemen etc) Considering all of them have the right to stage industrial action (in form of Strikes) yet the police do not. (though i can see why the police arent allowed ie chaos on the streets so its about maintaining public order etc)
What percentage wage-rise did M.P.s get recently?
