Whos Ordered a 8800gt after seeing g92 GTS price?

What, so you're bailing out to stop losing any more money?

What are you going to replace it with? Fresh air?! Won't the replacement cost money too?

EDIT: I can see 4 GT's in the MM. 2 have sold, 1 is withdrawn due to not being much slower than a GTS, and the other one is mine!!

I was going to get a 8800GT I must admit, but I thought there was little point as the price delta of launch prices would be small compared to a GTS. I got a 3870XT for the 2900XT I got as I sold the 2900XT for a lot more than what I paid for the 3870XT. Offsetting the price I will get off the 3870XT and the previous gain of my 2900XT, the "upgrade" to the 8800GTS will more or less break me even I reckon after I sell the 3870XT.

Glad I got the 8800GTS BTW. Will post info etc tommorrow when I am more free.

I just don't want to lose £100 on resale value in a matter of 2 months that won't happen to the new GTS i bet in february you can get £180 for a gts you'll be lucky to get £100 for a gt in feb.So even if i sell and have to pay £40 to get the gts i am still £40 up in 2 months than i would be if i kept the gt you get it ?

Selling and upgrading quick seems to be the best way I am finding for now. You won't be in the green, but in the long run compared to keeping a card for years or whatever, you will lose less. You won't gain to infinite unless the price of new cards constantly fell, but you will probably minimise your losses I guess.

Edit: I've modelled it in Economically/Mathematically on a piece of paper hah

nobody got one delievered for £150 if they say they did they are telling porkies for one day there was a site for £152 but with delivery was £160.

You weren't looking hard enough.

I got my first GT for £145 delivered after £10 off through google checkout (should be alright now the price no longer applies?)

But that one borked so had to send it back for refund and got a second one for £170 but I was desperate for a new card.

I understand what you're saying, but your maths hinges on the GTS only having depreciated by £40, and the GT by at least double that come Feb 07?

I think you're being a bit pessimistic regarding the future value of a GT personally, and a bit optimistic about the value of the GTS, but hey, it's your money!

Don't forget to include postage in your calcs/prices too.

Graphics cards go down in value - fact!

Do people ever even look further than their favorites?
some how i doubt it.

Cant give them away at £150 now 4 days ago you'd have gotten your arm bitten off for £185.
Actually it's 0.20 p

Well, if you're right, I shall be the first to petition the dons to change your name to Mystic C64!!! ;):)

All I would say to anybody contemplating 'playing the market' to try and save a few quid, do the maths, and don't forget to add in any postage costs and interest on any borrowings taken to fund it.

Seriously, work it out, and you'll find there isn't as much in it as you think.

In my own situation, I have contemplated shifting my two GT's for say, £320 max, and replacing them with two GTS's at approx £450 delivered.

So, I'd be spending another £130 now to avoid losing £120 (at C64's forecast price of £100 for a used GT in Feb 07) if I sold in Feb 07.

But, you're saying my two GTS's could be worth as much as £160 more for a pair come Feb 07, saving me a whopping £30 over hanging on to the GT's...

If you're wrong about either the price of the GT's or the GTS's in Feb 07, then the maths make even less sense.

The maths works out for one card too.

All this would make more sense if the GTS was a big step up in performance over a GT, but it's not.

Seems like a big risk to be taking around something nobody knows much about, ie future used graphics card prices.

8800GTS >>>> Asus or BFG? which has better RMA

BFG by miles. With ocuk u cann get 48 hour turn around.

I ordered a GTX on sunday night as i desided that it be better for a 24". Glad i made that decision now.

Ive seen benchmarks of the overclocked GTS beating a GTX in almost everything, but with the GTX overclocked as well i presume they are even?

I would think so, there are a lot of reviews knocking about that aren't comparing apples with apples.

The GTX is still an awesome card, especially at high res/AA.

I've just bought an X1900XT-X so am thinking of selling my 8800GT now as I think the X1900XT-X will be a good stop gap untill the 9800's, only playing TDU and UT3 atm.

Again, in the headlong rush for the latest GPU's, we tend to forget how capable the last gen stuff was!

My brother has an X1900XTX, and gaming at 1440 x 900, it's only Crysis that makes him compromise much on graphic eye candy.
