Greatest Military Hardware

The ultimate weapon is one which is so devastating that the thought of ever using it is enough to end most conflicts.

The atomic bomb is THE ultimate weapon of modern warfare.

The greatest military hardware is one of these. Or more accurately, a swarm of these.

Ni it is clearly not the ultimate as it depends on you getting it some where, if someone develops a near fool proof methods of stopping icbm, and other forms of delivery, then it immediately becomes useless, till something new is made.

What is that? Not the Aurora?

My vote would be... people.

None of the things above would be any good in or out of war without the people who invented them made them and used them.... :)

Somebody missed the point of the thread.

hardware noun 1 metal goods such as pots, cutlery, tools, etc. 2 computing the electronic, electrical, magnetic and mechanical components of a computer system, as opposed to the programs that form the software. See also liveware. 3 heavy military equipment, eg tanks and missiles. 4 mechanical equipment, components, etc. 5 colloq a gun.

Its the latest UCAV from boeng.

This aircraft would annihilate an F22 for a number of reasons.

Its completely expendable. So the loss of one is inconsequential. They will work in a swarm, and they will be able pull manouvres that would rip a human apart.

1 F-22 can take out half a dozen F-16 before they could see who's shooting at them. 10 F-22 can take out 60 of those X-47, any swarm will now be a few odd planes :p

That was actually done as a test for the f-22, they put up a lot of f-16 piolts against one f-22 rookie to see what would happen.

f-22 won hands down.

rugged reliable and bloody dangerous :)

might be a bit on the primitive side but those cockpit bubbles will stop a .50 cal round, other protection includes titanium armour and it can carry troops too :)

So, if the F22 is so great and able to shoot planes down before they are seen, why has it got a machine gun to use???? just how far do bullets travel up in thin air? Loads of pilots will tell you the same thing, give us a plane with no guns and when we get into a dog fight, we are no use at all. I know, it can shoot planes many many miles away, but there will soon be counter measures to all its misiles and it only takes one plane to get through to gun range, then your toast...

For my vote, not sure its classed as hardware but id go for gunpowder.

There is no such thing as a rookie in a F-22.

They don't let just anyone strap one on.
