Hi, I just passed my test a few days ago. Am looking to buy a small car like a corsa for around £500.

Need a cheap insurer but im getting quotes of £900+!!

£900 is to be expected. Just try all the usual comparison site, then try ringing companies with cheapest quotes. I'm in the same boat as you at the moment and I found www.ecarinsurance.co.uk cheapest by at least £300 to the other nearest quote I get. Quite a few people recommend Bell on here as well so give them a go.

No help to your thread but just wanted to say i feel sorry for you young lads trying to insure cars these days. The prices are a joke. Try getting quotes with your mum or sister on it.You maybe suprised.

My first year was £1400, so id think £900 was relatively cheap TBH.

Whats your age, as that usually plays a part, anything less than about 21 and expect £1k+

thx neo. i just tried ecarinsurance and im getting the same price as before. have u done a pass plus?

Tried my moms it was just as high surprisingly even though shes been insured since 1990, i think it might be because she was a named driver on dads policy hence zero NCB.

I'm 23 stellios.

Hmm, the best for me have been:

Churchill
Direct Line (my current insurers)
Endsleigh

My first year i was with NFU Mutual and they were the cheapest by about £200. They dont do onliine quotes so you need to ring them, but they were decent dealing with a claim when someone decided to swipe my front wing off (100% other parties fault).

Well so far lads here are the prices:

churchill £1720
endsleigh £1400
direct line £1400
tesco £1688

cheapest are liverpool victoria with £920

still ridicolously high though, i wanna pay around £600-700....

my bro is on my dads policy. my dad says he can only have 3 named drivers on 1 car. is that true?

my bro wont let me drive his car and dad has his car too. so dont think i can do it on his?

£900 is cheap!!

obvi put your mum on if shes been driving quite some time.

company wise: endsleigh, barclays, virgin, tesco, norwich union direct, norwich union simple cover.

sorted.

I just paid £1321 to insure my first car.
£900 is cheap for a first timer, i dont know of anyone whos had less than a grand.

Jeeeeeeeeeeees that's a lot! Have you tried putting a female on it who has had a license for a long time? I put my Mum on mine and it came down over £250.

Mines £1500 on a 106 1.5D insurers dont seem to care about bhp more the engine capacity. Adding either or both of two people with 10 years ncb with the same company and other increased it by £200, theyre catching on.

My cheapest was with Quinn-Direct. Its a lottery though.
